hey guys... i'm a noob here and i need lotsa advice on what i gotta do to my 94 GT..

right now... my car's got a S.I.R with a K&N filter, just added a breather filter to it... changed sparks to NGK iridium, i've redone my piping for my exhaust, installed the ground wire system, waiting for the brembo brake rotors to arrive.. searching for best deals for short shifter. ( know where i can get it at a good price? ) did my tune up... changed my gauges, got eibach sportline coils and AGX struts on it ( got the coils and struts from prev. owner ), replaced tailights with 2nd generation JDM taillights, currently have 16 inches 01 7th gen rims.. doing engine swap by christmas.. found 3sgte engine from Engine Depot in NJ. What else would i need to replace before i'm ready for engine swap?

Holy crud, I thouht this was shind at first.

You might wanna pick up some EBC greenstuff brake pads (www.tirerack.com) to go with those brembos. They'll help stop ya, I love mine.

If you're going 3s, sooner or later you'll wanna get another tranny. So don't get a shorty yet. But go TWM when you do.

Nice to see a n00b who's got his crap together

it says that the previous owner got the AGX struts.
If that actually true and he does have them, he probably has the ones for a 5th gen celica. They are interchangable with 6th gen.

Which AGX struts did you use? They don't make them for our cars.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

The shifter is just a lever with cables, the smoothness is probably your syncrhos going.

I'm like 45-60mins north of the city, right above Westchester.

im going to try to answer that.... you wouldn't be able to use the same short shifter with a different tranny (atleast i dont think so)

check Performance Part of the Forums, in the stickies, look under Fesiable Engine Swaps, and such, and there's got links to places with Front Clips, and Engine Importers

i'd think you could, B16's got what like 185hp, and 120ft-lbs., and you'll have most likely 225hp, 225ft-lbs. (2nd gen JDM 3SGTE), your cars weigh about the same, yours might weigh i bit more, but i'd say you should be able to take him off the line or on the highway.

I rev to as close to the redline i can get, or about 5700rpm. (that is, when im racing. otherwise, just normal driving, i shift at about 3000rpm.)

hey guys, updates on what i've installed to my 94 GT. i've installed the ground wire system, recieved my brembo rotors, haven't install it yet.. but soon, installed a breather filter and a heel support. i manage to find 2 vendors here in NY, one in manhattan and the other in queens.. gave them my parts list and they're gonna give me a price quote on it... what i'm looking for now are front and rear upper and lower strut braces anyone here happen to know where i'll be able to get it? in person and online.. btw.. i tried the 3000gt V6 yesterday.... though the car's got HP... i don't feel it's fast at all.... don't give me the kick that the celica does....why is that? is it due to it's heavy structure? yea.. i'll be racing a 94 civic hatchback soon... mods on it are, catback, 4 neuspeed strut braces, AEM cold air intake, MSD, DCsports ceramic header.. tat's about it... biggrin.gif

yea..the 3sgte that i'm gonna swap is the 3rd generation one... the one with 251 hp and 245 torque, stock? i think that'll be enough to beat a civic.... even a 3000gt with a V6 engine...not twin turbo though..

That'll be more than enough to beat his civic. This is the reason I hate a lot of civic owners. My friend works with a dipshiz that owns a civic. He did a customer twin turbo setup and is only running 3lbs of boost (idiot). He says to my friend " I will race you and beat you no matter what you drove today." Guess what? My friend drove his Honda CB900 Motorcycle that runs 12's easy (again idiot) Well, they get to a local highway and my friend SMOKES him. Like off the line he's gone. Stupid stupid stupid. Some people just have no idea how to make a car fast, just how to make it "cool" (although most of the crap they do is far from cool). Your friend sound like my other friend who owns a prelude. With lightened flywheel, full exhaust (header back), cam gears, performance clutch, and upgraded ignition, he barely kept up with me. When we raced it was a tie. Of course with racing we don't go that fast and we only do it in places where no one is around. **** I do not condone Street Racing in any form****

And to answer your shift point question, if I am driving nice and soft I don't go any higher than 3000, thats usually only when the engines cold. Just remember that your engine loves to be in its power band so when you can, open her up and take her up to 5000 or more if you'd like. Just don't do it to often because you will lose serious gas mileage. When racing I go to 5800, I found its where my car gets the best start in the next gear (After I shift my car is in the middle of the power band in the next gear.)

QUOTE (shin @ Oct 15, 2004 - 10:20 AM)
hey guys. i've just installed my cross drilled rotors and replaced all brake pads. painted calipers. i've got one question, i ordered the Jspeed front and rear strut braces yesterday on bulletproofautomotive.com and a guy named DON ? called.. he confirmed my order but he was telling me i gotta wait till up to 3mths to recieve the braces. they said that it takes almost a month to clear the customs... is it true?? do you guys have to wait that long for your strut braces? confused.gif

heh, By the time that you forgot you ordered them. They'll show up at your door.

They take forever.

haha, I just had a pretty good laugh. Your friend said that hondas are the fastest street cars? hehe, Civics weren't really made for racing...correct me if I'm wrong. But anyways...they have what? 185 hp not stocked...STI has 300 hp stocked...EVO has 271 (US version stocked)...Honda's cant hold that. it's like almost double the power. STI and EVO WERE made for racing...so were the celicas...just not our crappy U.S. versions...heheh I just thought it was funny, and I think hondas suck.

It's always funny when you hear those Civics buzzing (<--civic owners tend to like buzzing mufflers lol). They making so much noise and then you pass them up going 30mph. biggrin.gif

lol..... that's really true dahoman9, but i've always respect the integera type R and NSX type R, those are the Hondas that i wouldn't mess with.. other than that... pssh... and thanks turboinduction, i've changed my plans now.... spend the $1250 to get the ST185 clip, spend another $1k to get the 3sgte installed. want my car to be more go than show first...

no prob shin,

As for dahoman:
NSX
S2000
RSX Type-S
Civic Si
Accord Coupe

All fast, maybe not STi fast but fast enough. I know an Si and a Celica GTS (7th gen) are pretty close. I always considered the GTS as a fast street car. As for the comment that Hondas are the fastest street cars, I agree. There are massive amounts of performance upgrades for Hondas back to the mid-80s. Name 5 performance upgrades for the Celica. Exactly. Hondas are the EASIEST made fastest cars on the street.

i've decided to do the swap on Jan. i've got all quotes, gonna get the front clip from venus auto and ship it to my mechanic, total comes up to be 3400 (clip, shipping, labor) if nothing needs to be replaced. still deciding on which FMIC to get, thought of getting the Blitz FMIC and custom the piping, you guys think that's possible? i'm still looking through the forum to find as many information as i can to get a better idea on the swap. is there anyone here in NYC that'll be able to help me out? like just come over. look at my 6gc and give me a better understanding on what is gonna happen. sorry if i'm asking too many questions, this is my first swap.... btw, anyone here able to sell me a 6gc.net decal? biggrin.gif
