If you guys had the money to buy a lil beter newer car like maybe a newer eclipse, would you still buy the 6 generation celica or do u buy the celica because you just love it so much and its so good looking and beneficial? For some reason i get the feeling that some people on here have the celica because they somehow ended up with it due to not putting on a body kit. The celica without a kit looks kinda ugly if u know what i mean.

i mean this is a site devoted to the 6gen celica... even though its just your opionion, coming here and saying you think the celica is ugly without a kit isnt going to get a warm welcome... id say more than half the people on this site think the celica the best looking car without a kit....

I think the 6 gen celica with a body kit looks much nicer than with the stock bumpers. Perhaps that is what lucass means. I just like more angles than smooth round curves. But I'd take the celia look over an eclipse any day smile.gif

Newer does not = better.
Mitsubishi does not = better. It = crap.

How does someone end up with a celica due to not putting on a kit?

IF and ONLY IF I had the money I'd get a WRX, GC8.

wow noway...the celica with out a kit is great looking....the celica doesnt really have grooves on the body like you find with other cars.....its smooth and clean looking (makes dents stand out like a champ too)...personaly the kit that most people have on her is the stuff you find on ebay...i dont like that its to airplane like giving it to make curves...plus throw in the 3sgte and you got a sweet sleeper...anways....thats my opinon

When buying a car you need to look further than just looks. reliability is the main factor for me as well as what I am getting for my money. I prefer Toyota over any other car. I would never buy an Eclipse, dont get me wrong the eclipse is a very good looking car but is it reliable? does it hold the value?
Here is the list of the cars I had
Corolla 1983 ... yeah the 1.8
Corolla 1986 GTS twin cam ... oh yeah the migthy twin cam
Then I got into the Celica
Celica GTS hatchback 1988
Celica AllWD turbo 1988
Celica GT conv 1989
Celica GT conv 1993
Celica GT conv 1998
Celica GT conv 1999 - current
Lexus GS300 1999 (still a Toyota)
Toyota Tacoma double cab V6 2002- current

As you can see.. I can not get enough of Toyota. I dont like the new Celica as much as the 6 gen... I'll be waiting if they decide to release a new conv and then I will decide but I dont like it now.

you need to define what is it that you want... If you are looking for speed then look elsewhere unless you want to do an engine swap, if you are looking for a great looking car that is reliable then look no further wink.gif

I wouldnt mind a lip kit, but **** my car looks great already, and if I liped it I couldnt lower it, which makes it look much nicer. I choose not to have a kit. If I had a lil more money I would put a lil more money into my celica wink.gif. Also, I dint end up with it, unless you mean I looked for 3 months and fell in love with the celica I found and bought it.

i dont think your car looks great in fact it looks a bit crappy because of the under car lights. pop a kit on it. or maybe its just me talking out of my ass. id have to get a real close look at the car.

your crazy man i love the look of the celi. nice curves beautiful body, only thing i dont like about the celica is the front end. the front bumper kinda comes to a point like from the tires to the front of the car it angles up a little. but the celica is a amazing car. also the 96+ model front ends look a little better

slipguns car looks awesome especially the front end (the new front and the fog lights) the rims arnt my taste. theyres few bad looking celicas(but the mcdonalds gt-4 falls into that small percentile)

lucass I think your an idiot. If you don't like the way then 6gc looks then don't get one. 6gc looks great with a with or without a kit. If you like the 6gc then get one and put a kit on it, just don't put peoples cars down.

I'd say go for the eclipse, then you wouldn't be on this forum.

Now thats a hot non-kitted celica ! biggrin.gif

6TH gen celica is a very well built car. I wont be surprised if these evo's start start tapping or burning oil in a couple of years.

I like to see kitted celi's as well. but I'm very tired of the invader veilside knockoff.

if you don't like the way it looks why are you even considering getting one? performance isn't that great, upgrades are expensive, the suspension is dated etc. why do I have one? I like the way it looks, the way its built, its reliability, I can go on and on. but quite simply if you don't like it, don't buy it. and don't come on here and insult other peoples cars, that type of behavior doesn't fly on this forum.

I also hear that toyotas engine just starts to warm up at 100,000 miles.

We realize you don't think the Celica looks good from the factory without a kit, and that's fine with us, but don't be insulting members' cars. wink.gif

Personally, I think that non-kitted Celicas look great once they're lowered with some rims. There are a couple angles from which my car doesn't look that great, but generally I love how it looks. smile.gif

What color yellow are you planning on going with? And what kind of Celica? If you want a yellow coupe with an engine swap, I'll sell you mine now that it's running perfectly. biggrin.gif

Because I'm getting something with four doors, and I want a car that doesn't beg for attention. I live in a very conservative small-ish town where the sargeant of the police force hates my guts(his wife chased me out of their house with a taser once.) So I pretty much get pulled over for anything and everything(slowing down for brutal railroad tracks, going 34 in a 30, pulling into the second lane instead of the close one, etc.), and if I'm driving a quiet, subtle, four door car, they'll have a harder time spotting me. Right now my car is well known throughout Yakima, and can be seen(and heard) from a long way away.

And I'm selling it for $7,000 firm. The price includes the extra 18" chrome wheels and tires, extra power door panels, the extra 20V 4A-GE motor(#1 Cylinder is dead, but the motor is good for many parts), and I'd throw in the TRD replica spoiler if you want it. Oh yeah, I also will throw in an extra modified front bumper and the stock springs too(you may want them if you're getting a low kit, but probably not).

not a good idea to insult the administrator lmao

coomer did a 20V 4age motor swap, basically pioneered it. eventually, he ran into too many problems with the VVTI not working, and electrical issues, found out the motor was nothing but problems, and put another 7afe into it. the engine currently in his car (as far as i know since i dont own the car) is perfectly fine, hes willing to sell you the 4age WITH (not installed) the car if you want it for parts or for any other reason. personally i havent seen too many amish people driving Spa Yellow Celicas haha

Lucass, you seem to not understand what the management of this site continues to tell you, chill out. It would be amazing if everyone had as good of tastes in cars as you, but they don't. You think Celica's look good with a kit. Wow. Amazing. Good for you. Not everyone does, and no one's right or wrong either way. However, you are wrong to insult members about there personal tastes.

Hehehe...Tim, I think you're thinking of John and the 4A-GZE. I've still got the 20V AE101 4A-GE in my car, and it's running perfectly now. VVT works exactly as it should, the alignment is perfect, the tranny feels excellent once again. The dead #1 cylinder is on the extra 4A-GE engine, not on the one that's in the car now. The one in the car now is in great condition, and feels nice and strong. smile.gif

I don't want to ship just the motor...it'd be too much of a hassle. Plus, it's dead...it's probably not worth the cost of shipping. wink.gif

But yeah, it's a 20V AE101 4A-GE.

LOL...u diss a non kitted celica, and ur in love with a kitted celica with the Zephyr kit? The 404, zephyr, or 404a kit really doesnt make that much of a difference in appearance IMO. Just makes it look lower without actually lowering the car.

I do not remember asking directly for your opinion. Yes, you do appear to talk out of your ass a lot, and not know very much about cars to not even realize what you could be getting into by getting a car off auction and getting it painted and kitted by your friend. I just stated I DONT want a kit, so why would you even be so stupid to say "Pop a kit on it". Didn’t I JUST discuss my unwillingness to do that?

Interesting reading

Having just brought a Celica and gone through the whole looking and test driving various makes and models of cars
We chose the 6gen on reliability, looks (its standard), and ease of parts (being a Toyota)

Yes there are those wee problems that come with a two door car and no back seat (to speak of), but hey If you want a people mover then get a sedan

So I guess in answer to your question the 6gen, yes If I had the option to buy a newer one I guess I would but, I draw the line at the 7gen, sorry to say I think the designers kind of lost the plot with that model.

So if no more 6gen were around then maybe a Nissan Silvia

wow some people shouldn't ever even post. But if yall (or jus this jackass) want my opinion I was able to get a variety of cars because my parents would work with me.. Celica's are indeed slow but they're the sexiest slow thing out there and with a swap it's a fast-ass sexy machine. Keep an eclipse and just add a fart can and u'll be outta our hair. and btw Coomer's car is the shi* I wish I could get it... But I think my car is sexy too... except it needs lowered.. Or is it an ugly mug since no kit? Sorry for teh rudeness guys but people flamin on celi's piss me off to no end.

Nah, the second one(the '88 Celica GT hatchback is gonna remain stock engine-wise.) It's my daily driver from the point I sell the '94 until I get another car, so right now I'm working on it to make it a bit more tolerable. smile.gif

I'd like to sell it if I can find another good beater, like maybe a fourth gen. Celica GT-S 5-speed or something. Auto is just sooooooo hard for me to tolerate. wink.gif

c'mon guys, all of you chill out. I have the money to get just about any car i want and i went with a gt4 for all those reasons everybody knows. the wrxs may look good and be fast but lots of people having it and seeing 40 year olds with the wife and kids cruising in them just make me sick. Plus the reliability of a Toyota is unmatched.

regarding the unkitted celis, i have to agree that they are not so great looking. Larger rims and lowering them though does a lot.
if you take a look at my profile you will see my curren and the gt4 (kitted).

and btw, my mechanic has just set up a 700bhp gt4. i will be taking my gt4 for a service this afternoon and get more details about it.

to my opinion, the celi handles well, and save me alot money on gas(book saids 28/34, mine runs about avg 28-31) meanwhile she is nice looking and the seats are comfortable front and back, I think other than the new 7gc, the rear seats are the roomest 2 dr sports car there is(better than eclipse, 240sx, mx-6). And as far as reliabilities concern, all the other ones can just get a kick in their ass. after seeing my celi, 2 of my other friends converted from eclipses to celis, and thank me for it, cuz they dont have to see the machanic as much now... The celi may not be the fastest, may not be the sexiest(depends on pt of view), but it's the most balanced choice you could get for every dollar you spent. Honestly, I didn't like it when I first bought it, I wanted to have a supra, but well, $$$ was short, gotta stick with the closest brother supra had , but now, after owning it for like 5 yrs and 2 of them, I love it~ biggrin.gif
