what does the 97 Limited Edition celica have that made them LE...or was it just another way to make it sound rare soo they can sell more?

it is a st celica with all the goodies like power windows cd/tape deck, and limited edition badging.

LE's have "celica" stiched on the seats. little badge on the rear view mirror. badges on the fenders. Also I think 97 was the last year they made ST's. Only a certain amoutn were produced, I have yet to see a 98 or 99 st.
So i guess thats why they are limited. --------------------  I will return one day. |

there was no GT Limited Edition or 25th Aniv Edition. but your right about the verts and Gilbert is right, the LE and 25AE models were merely marketing ploys in an attempt to move more ST's. sorry to burst your bubbles guys  edit: also 96 had the 25 AE while 97 was the LE just to clarify |

for the le st's they get the gt's alloy wheels...
but i'm not sure if all le's have it .. but my le has the black pearl badging. |

actaully.... the 25th les were only produced in 1996. there were le's made in 97 butnot 25th. theres nothing speacial floormats and badging. it was also the model that changed the looks of the celica. 96 and below had the smiley face and orange turns. and 96 and up have the more aggressive looking bumper and clear turns. other then that theres no difference.....

Also- the only GT limieted editions, or AE's were the convertibles, and they only came in black or green (an exclusive color) with a tan top... dunno if anybody stated this already

Yours is a JDM SS-I Special Edition celica- sorta like the US limited edition ST. From factory literature it should have the celica enbrodered seats, a rear spoiler, and 6 speaker CD/cassette system... Also, most came in a dark blue color exclusive to the special edition, code 8L2, but they were also available in all other factory colors. -------------------- Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06

I know that all the '97's came with that black badging...except for mine! For some reason, mine was a Gold Package. I don't know what made it different, but I wish I had the black emblems instead of the gold ones.

Black badging rocks! My LE didn't come with stitched seats, this is the first time I've heard of this. Just extra badging is the only thing different I think...oh, and it's the magical limited green color, too. I love the color.

So i guess thats why they are limited. correct, they stopped productioin of st's in 97, and if i remember correctly only 1500 usdm 97 st's were ever produced. no le for me but at least its got almost every option  verde, i love the le green color. my bro was soooo close to getting a 97 le green like that. we were like 5 min from the guys house to look at the car when he called to tell us it was sold

This is a really old Topic. Lots more info has been added in other posts on this subject. Some have cloth some have Leather. The Henry Vo link that used to be on here had excellent info as far as standard features, options available, sticker prices, ect. If anyone can find this Please PM me the link.
