Well folks, I drove a 6 speed C5 corvette today....and just about bought it on the spot. Although I do love my car, I have to say that driving the vette was the experience that I have been after all along. Although the 3s is very fast, the low end of any 4 cylinder car just cannot compete with this beast.

So, anyone interested in my car? I have about $19,000 invested this last year. Details and pics are in my profile. The 3s is professionally installed and has about 30,000 miles on the engine. Of course, the dealer won't give me what it is worth so I am putting it out there. Entertaining offers. Please PM.

nice. The level of maturity on this site never ceases to amaze me. That said, there is no question that the top end of the 3s is outstanding. The car is truly a screamer at high revs - it reminds me of driving an S2000. But what I was really after when I started this project is that feeling of 300+ ft/lbs of torque right when you step on the gas. That type of "butt-dyno" feel is tough to get out of a nearly stock 4cyl car. Its all a matter of personal preference. As for looks, we all know that our cars are beautiful even if its our own biased opinions. I personally think the Corvette is a beautiful car as well and, although that too is an opinion, I know I am not alone in that belief. Truth be told, I have not fully decided if I want to sell it or go further with the performance modifications.

If I sell, I will "lose" more than $4000 but I have really enjoyed the project and have absolutely no regrets. The person that buys my car can have peace of mind that the swap was professionally installed by one of the best performance shops in the country. No corners were cut on any of the upgrades or modifications. Also, my performance mods to date do not materially affect engine longevity or reliability so thats attractive too. The car would be a great platform for someone who wants to add a turbo kit and a few minor fuel mods to take her up to 300+ whp.

I have already have had some people show interest just by putting a sign in the window.

And Consynx, you are right - the sleeper factor in this car is as good as I have seen.

Jay.

out of curiousity(sp)
what kind a MPG does a corvette get?
sometimes that low-end torque comes with some horrible gas mileage., and at $2/gallon i'll pass tongue.gif

jgreening... we always want what we cant have. sure the vette is a nice and fast car, but once you get that, youll want something faster.

disable fuel cut, and crank up the boost to 15 and go for a ride. youll then you will realize how much potential the 3sgte swap has. the other cool thing is the sleeper factor. no one every expects the celica to be a fast car, especially a convertable one.
