I posted how to do this in the changling lights colour bit lower down. Just get yourself some stage lighting gel (the coloured film).

Take the clock out and replace the orangeyyellow lens with the gel.

WARNING - not all colours work due to the actual colour of the numbers without a couloured lense in fronof the,

you should be able to get it from any theatrical supplies shop or art supplies shop.. but it usually oncly comes in large sheets or rolls and you only need about a square inch of it... rolleyes.gif

I first tried it Ben's way with a clear blueish plastic folder I bought at Staple's for $1. It just wasn't right for the job. I took the clock apart and used transparent blue testors paint $2.99 (from Michael's or a hobby store) and painted the display. I used a few coats on it. Them I replaced the amber lense in the front with a clear one.

gh0st_d0g, color of the guages in the picture didn't come out like they usually look. There is some red and the blue is usually brighter.

umm no? lol you cant go by the picture. As soon as I turn the key, the needles jump to where they should be. They dont sit at zero when the car is off because those little plastic stoppers are not on the gauges....

Hey batman! I tried taking it a step further last night by changing the stock green color of my cd players face. So I took the face off (never done that before it came off Easy!!!) Then I took the rest apart & found 2 TINY little bulbs about the size of a water cooler for ants aHahahaha. Thats how small they are...

Anyway im sure all of u have already seen them but it was new for me.... the 2 bulbs had those green "condom covers" on the them so I pulled those off & stuck a strip of the blue stage lighting gel behind the face display.......which made it a dark dull color of purple....not bright enough at all! So I removed the strip of blue gel & tried it alone w/ nothing else which made it orange! woo =) Blue & orange go good together, I like it! Any change in color is good though. So for now...my cd face is orange....& my clock is blue

(sorry so blury, my camera sucks in the dark w/ no flash)

1st pic: test cd face color (no good)
2nd pic: new cd face color @ night
3rd pic: new cd face color in day time
