Yea some dood on celica.net made a kit that replaces all your dash LEDs and even your light on your window switch. I'll find out who it was and post another message with the link. (if someone doesn't beat me to it)

i'm the guy offering the kits. it requires LEDs that aren't available for sale commercially. i had to get them from a distributor, and they are made to order. the window switch is easier, but it's still a huge pain. i broke 3 AC control boxes just trying to figure out how to get to the LEDs.

i'm going to offer the kit by itself, or the kit installed by me. if you aren't confident handling circuitry, i'd recommend having me do it. it's a lot of delicate soldering, and it's easy to break stuff if you don't know what you are doing. it's not like you're switching bulbs. it's like cracking open your microwave controls to change the color of the clock.

anyway, STANDARD sized/shaped LEDs will NOT work. i'm waiting on my first batch of red and blue LEDs from the company, i'll be sure to post pics when i have the prototype. my advice would be not to mess with this, if you break something, you have to buy a whole new box, which is like 500 bucks. just wait for my kit. it's coming as fast as it can.

btw, i've been working on this for well over a year, but if you want to try, go for it smile.gif

i will be sure to tell you all as soon as it's ready. i'm hoping for a less than a week turnaround time.

i can post instructions, but you won't be able to get the LEDs, so I don't know what the point is. normal ones DO NOT fit. i'm serious. you have to get the same kind that are in the box. trust me, i've looked EVERYwhere to find these, and the only way i'm able to get them is by buying 500 (smalles qty. you can purchase) and normally they don't sell that few, i've been bugging them for about six months.

I would rather install these myself since i'm pretty good at soldering since i put modchips in playstations for people.

Once I get my Celica, I'll definitely be looking into getting you to do this for me, Charlie. VA is only a skip away. I live in southern VA too, so maybe a 3 hour drive.

if you've done that, you'll be fine. i will have a whole mailing system set up. i might get the LEDs today! which would be totally sweet.

they are popsicle shaped, and fit flush into these slots in the box, so you can't use normal round ones, they won't fit, and the top is curved too, so you can't use rectangluar/square ones. i got the LEDs I'll post some pics tonite!!

Sweet deal Charlie. I live about 4 hours away from there. What would be the turn around for the whole job if I brought my car to you. I'm all about the blue lights.

guys, sorry for the lack of updates, i hit a snag. i got all the button window lights done, but the symbol/dial lights burned out. ha. they looked spectacular for a whopping 3 seconds. hehe. ok, i put the final order in for the LEDs. i'm gonna see if i can't get the problem figured out tonight. pics will be up as soon as humanly possible. smile.gif

Hey Charlie where did u get your bulbs?

um kingbright. but i had to order 1000. heh. hopefully i'll sell some kits. i've got all the windows done on the prototype, just need to get it back together and take some pics... that's my mission for tomorrow!

dude, dude DUDE, don't buy those. you don't need LED bulbs, you need actual LEDs. you need to unsolder the LEDs that are in there. it's not like a bulb switch on your gauges, you need to crack open the box and get at the circuit board. the clock, also, you have to use a film over it, you can't change it any other way.

i'll get these pics up ASAP guys, i know everyone has been waiting a while for them, i've just been hella busy.

i got the hard part done, which was finding those damn popsicle LEDs. i'll have pics up later on tonight.

i didn't see LEDs on that site, just LED bulbs. the dome/cylinder LEDs will not work. just FYI.

I am having problems with the climate control panel. I could not remove it from the dash...there seems to be something holding it firmly to the dash n even though i get the screws off, the climate control box seems to remain stuck....anybody with similar problems....i own a 99 celi redface.gif

there is a blue and black cable. If u look down by the gas pedal on the right of it look behind the climate control, there is the blue cable. it just pops right off a little screw. The black cable u have to then pull out the climate control as much as u can and youll see the black one behind it. disconect the black cable not from the car but from the climate control unit. youll be able to just angle the cable and slide it right out...
