Hey guys this is a concept car designed and produced by Holden in Australia
It was at the recent sysdney motor show, its supposed to fullfil the void in the sports hatch market in australia. The name torana was choosen out of conveniece, since the last torana was a sports hatch. Um not much else is known, it should be powered by a v6, a v8 may be on the cards but that would under cut the Commodor, so best leave the V8 to alone. Also if GM is impressed with it, they may choose to make the new platform a world wide plateform, and would under pin the new cadilac, the one thats been out for a while, coz both cars are about the same size and performance. however there are heaps of contenders within GM that are biding for a new platform, though GM is extremly impressed with Holdens Zeta platform, wich is awesome and very cost effective, its already being used for some new cars coming out next year i bealive and the new VE commodor in 2006. Is that enough info? lol i could probly find some more but this is all i could remember from the show. -------------------- ![]() |

The Torana concept is no bigger than a Ford Mondeo... no Cadilac in the US is due for redesign anytime soon except the DeVille, and the zeta platform is a midget compared to the size of the DeVille... that said, its an interesting exterior design for a car that segment. no doubt the production version would be tamed quite a bit, however... -------------------- Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06

The Catera was the Bottom rung model for Cadilac, and it was the smallest in the lineup by a good margin. Seeing as the next Commodore in AU is going to be zeta based, and will stay in the same class, I dont see the connection with Zetas being large cars, in American eyes. Wheelbase is 107.4 in., total length is 194 in. for a current Commdore. A Toyota Camry, the best selling car in america, comes in with a 107.1 in. wheelbase, and a total length of 189.2 inches. A car like a Buick LeSabre would be considered a larger car to most americans, and it has a wheelbase of 112.2 inches, and an overall lenght of 200 inches... -------------------- Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06

ok just found some more info, i didnt no exactly wut cadilla needs to be updated it the cadillac CTS. which i think is cadillacs smalest car, its also about the same size as the toran concept.
and a senior officer from holden was hinting that cadillac may be getting the Toran platform as its cheap, well built for perfomance and is relaticly the same size. ow and the fact you guys dont think commodors are very big is scary stuff. Coz they r like the biggest sedans you can get here, besides a 7series which isnt that much bigger i dont think, well noticalby anyway. -------------------- ![]() |

ha yeah Americans love their big cars. hands down we drive the biggest cars because we are accustomed to big space and cheap fuel. It's the main reason why American cars arent sold overseas in any reasonable amount- its not that people wont buy them- its that our cars wouldent fit onto their roads. American cars not only are long, they are much wider than other cars of the world...
