My Room Mate is Freaking Incredible, *rant* but advice needed also Options

Ok so i grew up next door to two girls. one my age and one was 5 years older. I was friends with Rachel (girl my age) till about 16 when we went different ways in HS. I then became close to her sister (alycia) and we moved in together in september in a house in Medina (one of the most expensive places to live in washington)

so our little two bedroom shack (dont get me wrong its a really cute place) was 1,200 dollars a month for rent. she was desperate for someone to move in with ASAP cuz her and her b/f had just split and i was desperate to get out of my house cuz i was having problems with my parents. So i stressed to her that i could only give her 500 dollars a month max and if i had some extra cash some months she would get it. She said that was fine cuz she makes 4 g's a month. so everything was good. I would go home at night if she was at work and sleep at my parents cuz i have a big fear of being raped. so i never felt safe. So anyways 3 months had passed and im pretty broke. I got credit card bills to pay, 2 cell phones, gas, food, social life.

So i wrote her a note on saturday explaining that was my best friend and that i honestly could not do more than 500 dollars a month and if she found someone else to move in with her i would not be upset cuz it wasnt fair that she was paying a 1,000 dollars a month. so i told her to take the weekend to think about things and i would be back on monday.

She text me saturday afternoon asking if i wanted to go to a concert and i had asked her if she had seen my note and she said and i quote "yeah and dont worry about it. i know ur doing what you cant" so that was that. then while im at work on monday i get a text saying "we need to talk about money, u should be paying 800 dollars a month" i told her that thats why i had given her the note and everything. so basically it comes down to i will not give her a dime more than 500 a month cuz thats what i told her from the get go i would give her. so ive moved most of my stuff back and ive told her hey ill give you 500 a month till feb 1st so u can find somsone to live with you but i cant stay there and pay more than 500 a month cuz i end up having no life. I only make 1,000 a month! so she calls me harassing my Voicemail saying that i need to step up the plate and take responsibility.

Which if i was slacking and not paying what i had promised her from the beginning i could see but i guess i just dont see her point. I know its unfair for me to pay only 500 though i dont eat, shower, wash clothes, get the garage, or master bedroom there. So really i think 500 is fair - i only really sleep there like 3 times a week! oh and im not allowed to use my computer over there cuz she doesnt wanna unhook her computer and let me plug my lap top in though that bill is in my name.

i have people all around me telling me im being to nice. but i havent even talked to this girl since monday cuz i dont see the point. theres nothing to talk about. i told her i could only do 500 and i think im being nice by giving her till feb 1st to find someone else.

anyone got any suggestions on what else i need to say to her??

My parents dont spend much money on me. I bought the car and have put everything into it. And i buy all my own stuff now. & their is never anything to eat at home so I buy most of my own food. But free rent rocks

its your saving grace... no contract and she has almost no grounds to be able to take furthur action... this is why its a BAD idea to roomate with friends- with them you already know what buttons you can and cannot push so its almost like living at home- and you still end up with conflict...

i think youve taken the right route to give her a few months to find a new roommate. If you cant afford the place, then i think she should understand that, you dont make as much money are her. ITs really as simple as that.

Tell her that its a financial situation. That you are being responsible by moving out and that you simply cant afford to stay there any longer. That if you did, you will become broke and go into debt.

Also, why is she demanding $800 a month from you. If the rent is $1200, shouldnt equal rent be $600??

Well, if you said from the start that you would have a problem paying more than 500 then you are clear. I know a lot of people like this girl that always want to do what they think and are not considerate of other people. I would say ditch her and don't give it another thought. Just say you have financial problems and move back with the parents. Make sure there are no bills on your name before you move.

Now regarding the parents, i have noticed that they generally behave a lot better once you moved out and then moved back in. As for the snooping around, well who can blame them. You are leaving under their roof so they have some rights aswell. If you have nothing to hide then there is nothing to find when they snoop. Personally, after leaving on my own for 7 years while studying and another 2 when i was in the army, i moved back with them when i came from the states.
I have no real issues so far, and this helped me save for my GT4 so i ahve no complaints. Just think of it like $500 a month wasted. 6 months of rent is another Celi or a 3SGTE engine.

i was on my way home from my parents and called her cuz we were supposed to go to a sonics game to let her know i was on my way and she said "oh good we will be home about the same time and u can help take the grocieries in" and im sitting there thinking -why should i have to take the groceries in when i didnt buy any of it nor did i ask for any of it- i then told her before we left i had to use the computer to finish something up and thats when she told me i couldnt so i booked it home grabbed my lap top charger then went back to my parents. I text her when i got to my parents and said oh i left my wallet at my parents be back in 20 mins. She calls me bitching sayin g"WHY DO YOU NEED YOUR WALLET" and i told her that i do need a license and then she said "WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN IT AFTERWARDS, NOW WERE GONNA BE LATE" and i was like its not tha tbig of a deal were already late cuz u wanted to go grocery shopping with ur parents and the game started an hour ago.

oh and she got one of those damn little dogs that are like 4 pounds that she puts in her purse - she named it PARIS after paris hilton. I hate that thing. she brings it everywhere we go. I mean its a cute dog but when i go somewhere i like to get in and get out. so if we bring the dog we have to put the leash on let it walk around in the parking lot for a bit so it can pee then we gotta put it in the purse *possibly put a sweater on it* then go inside let people play with it *i mean if i saw a dog in a store id probably go pet it too* then we find what were there for then let it try pee outside on the way back to the car etc. im a very impatient person!



oh and rent plus bills comes to about 1500 at the end of the month. which is funny that she wants more money when i really dont live there.

Yeah moving in with friends, is most the time a bad idear. I know to many people that dont talk anymore cause with bill or somthingwith renting a house. Alos why the hell would you still pay $500 a month when your only there 3 days a week, that just sounds stupid to me. I would say **** it, an just leave an not pay any more.

***UPDATE***


so i have all my stuff back only thing i had there was my bed. I took back the cable boxes cuz comcast is harassing me cuz i have a 200 dollar unpaid bill so i shut off cable and net at the house and got the boxes back. I then get a phone call 20 mins after i get back to my parents area saying

where are the boxes

theyre with me and they will be returned to comcast cuz theres a 200 dollar unpaid bill


well i told u i was gonna pay it on the 7th and put it in my name

i told her no she didnt and that i gave her a week to change the name on the account and she didnt so i cancelled it. then she asks wheres rent and i said i lost my job and i havent been working for 2 weeks she then says i dont care and ill take you to small claims. I said hey look i dont live there do what you need to do.

I then come home and hear that she called my mother telling her she had a problem with me. My mother is very very very sick and my mom said hey shes over 18 its between you two. When i heard she called my mother i called her and said "do not call my mom harassing her she is very very sick and does not need this. you have a problem then you call me and leave me a voicemail and ill get back to you at my convenience." and hung up.

So she sounds pretty set on my small claims but woopty doo i dont care. Ha she then called leaving a voicemail saying that if i put 500 bucks on the doorstep by tuesday it would all go away and that i wouldnt have to pay for january or december. Im not doing that. first of all id otn have the cash to and second of all she is just using small claims as a scare tactic.

I put my foot down tonight and im so happy i did. I started talking and she interrupted and i said No dont you interrupt me. :-D

for once im not letting someone walk on me!

small claims court fees aren't that much, at least here it will set you back like $80 for the court fees, but when your likely to win more then that, or you feel that youve been wronged then some people dont mind taking a loss.

The appearance fee in a small claims case is generally under $100. The winner is often awarded costs. Generally, there are two court appearances. Once for the initial appearance and once for the "trial". Most of the time, attorneys are not involved so that wouldn't be an extra expense. So your options are:

(1) pay the $500 or

(2) Do nothing. IF (capital letters) she files a small claims case, you would liely have to pay your appearance fee and go to court two times. If you won, you may get your costs awarded to you. If you didn't win, you would have a judgement against you (which she would still have to collect) which would not be anymore than the amount in dispute ($300 x 5 months? = $1500)

Given the fact that you have a pretty good case and most such threats are empty, I wouldn't pay her a dime.

well she has a comcast box of mine and will not return my calls to give it back and has her new room mate make up excuses that she is out of town for the next 2 weeks *someone i know saw her at her work last night* i dont know what to do. i called the police they said they cant do anything considering i dont have proof she has it. where else would it be though? she signed for them when they were installed i only knew of two but she actually ordered 3 in my name! comcast says i can take her to small claims but the cops say it wont work since i didnt know that there were three from the beginning. so now what do i do? just annoy the crap out of her and waste my gas driving over to her house jsut about everyday??? i dont have 300 dollars to pay comcast for the "lost" box! anyone got any ideas?
