3'' inlets is pretty large also, what kinda intercooler is it? Usually 2.25 - 2.5 is decent piping, 3'' could very well suit you just maybe too big to fit in some spots.
For your intercooler I wouldnt go below 2.5 This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Dec 10, 2004 - 8:17 AM -------------------- |

Ebay or Summit Racing will have them for cheapest, you'll have to weld it all on your own. Make sure you get the right sizing, sound like you don't know, check the size from the TB and Such for sizing

my plan was to use 2.5 or 2.75 from the turbo and use 2.75 or 3 to the TB. Will that work without causing abnormal pressure drop? thanks lance

I think you are crazy for wanting that size of pipe. Its proven that a 2" inlet to the turbo and a 2.5" into the intake from the intercooler.Even thou some people might disagree turbo workes on pressure.Picture blowing thru a straw 3" its like nothing is comin out the other end.Now blow thru a smaller straw and now you have pressure.Same idea. The inlet to your intake should be bigger less restriction.I hope that made some sense to you before you buy something and it makes you car run like **** and not run to the performance that it should.Heres the breakdown 3" from maf to tb,then 2" out of turbo to fmic then 2.5" out of fmic to intake.Intercooler size im running 21x9x3. 2" inlets on it.Hope that that helps you!

True you will have less pressure on the larger piping but you'll have more CFM's and thats what counts, not the pressue.

He's talking about doing a t6.Thats insane. Why would you want to build boost at 5000rpm.Stick with the smaller turbo and no bigger than a 47mm compresser wheel. And you will have more power thru the whole power band.People think that its faster because of the big power bang when a big turbo kicks in.WRONG you have no power down low and another car would take you out before your turbo kicks in.Its as simple as that.Bigger isnt always better.Your right about the cfms if its the right size turbo. The bigger the compressor wheel is the more power it will make.but smaller piping is more efficiant for the cfm running thru.It doesnt matter how many cfms , its how quick can I get it there to make the power!
