well if your getting an st do a 20v 4a-ge swap, which will give you nice kick for autocross. Or if its a GT do a 3s-ge or 3s-gte swap...

Yes, small amounts of forced induction after some custom work when tuned right. wink.gif

Don't forget to edit your car's details so we can easily see if you have a GT or a ST or what. wink.gif

well coomer, would you really want to add forced induction on a 4a silver or black top?

My personal opinion is that the 4a motors should be left N/A, one because there are so many parts available for those engines to beef em up in their NA form. Two, because I have a self rule I suppose that if an engine was made NA from the factory its obviously not a good canidate for turbo, and a turbo engine should just be put in the car in the first place.

If you want more info on 4a-GE swaps go to www.club4ag.com

Turbo 20V 4AGs have been done with excellent success. Hich static compression, ITBs, 3 Intake valves per cylinder, with boost makes a whole lot of power. It's a matter of tuning the engine and not letting it go lean with that high of compression...

Oh yeah... if you plan on going turbo with a 20V 4AG, do it with a silvertop. The Blacktop bottom-end isn't a turbo friendly set-up...

Coomer, how tough is the wiring when swapping the 4AGE into a ST?

I personally wouldn't turbo the motor. I'd love to switch to a Megasquirt setup and run open throttle bodies if I were keeping the car. But like Kwanza said, they make a lot of power with low amounts of boost. Like any car, tuning is very important, but it's even more important on a 4A-GE running 10.5:1 compression.

vangSTa_celica, I actually didn't do a lot of the wiring myself. I did a fair amount myself though, and my experience was that it was very difficult. It was my first time, so I have nothing to compare it to, but my mechanic said it was the hardest wiring job he's ever worked on. Don't know how true that is though...probably an attempt at an excuse for his incompetance.
