im gonna try again, im also going to wrap the pies with thermo wrap.

first time i stripped it with a dremel all the way down to where it was shiny, then i primed it with the 1200* primer, i dont think i let it cure long enough, im gonna do it again with 1200* alluminum

After prepping it and cleaning it, I use the non-flammable BrakeKleen for a final wipedown, (you can use laquer thinner or alcohol, but only outdoors and let it ALL evaporate before getting any flame near it) I then heat it lightly with a propane torch (parts off the car of course) just enough to boil out any oil film left in the metal, you can usually see the oil evaporating as you move the torch slowly, then paint it b4 it cools off too much. this makes the paint stick much better.

i painted it, let it dry for a day, then i put it in the oven to test it at 300* and after about an hour the paint is slowly bubbling up a little?

possibly boiling the oil film out from under the paint, see my prev post above.

Talked to a local powder-coat guy, he says he now has high-heat powders that will stand up to exhaust heat, I dont believe it would on an exhaust manifold or header on a lean-burning computer controlled engine, need to send them to JET-HOT for ceramic coating, but it should work great on heat shields and valve covers etc.
