Wow thats a board price range.

I test drove the srt4 tho. It was a fun car. But I think it's ugly and its interior is as cheap as it comes. But for performance, They're a-ok

I was impressed, the new ones are 240hp with a 1000hp rated block - and massive potential. That car beats Evos, 350z's and Vettes with simple mods - good luck if you get it.

not much of a Fun car for daily driving...what the reviews said
since it has massive torque steer.

they're good for speed...i'd rather take a WRX though smile.gif

i rode in my friends SRT-4, IMO the excessive noise and sloppy suspension give you a false sense of how fast you are going. i really disliked the interior as well.

for the money, there are better choices out there... but if the turbo is all you are interested in it is still a fun car.

Are those the ones based off the neon? If so you might want to check its safety rating cause the neons have always sucked. Me? I will never buy a dodge because my mothers neon was a pos after so many miles they are known to fall apart. We had to get her oil pan replaced, pain flaked off, motor issues, etc. It was an alright car for around town but after it was 4 years old (and mind you she didn't put alot of miles on it) it just fell to pieces.

i considered one

until i test drove it

MASSIVE TORQUE STEER

even though it was an 04 with LSD

suspension wasnt too good

no power rear windows in the top model car, WTF?

i liked the feel it had when shifting. it was a very easy car to drive, if you did not try to haul ass

i almost crashed the car from the torque steer around a turn, luckily the salesman wasnt paying atention.

it was fast as hell, but in the end, i went with a WRX. better quality, better features, and way better drivability

srt4 may still be a neon, in the same way an eclipse GST is just a fwd eclipse. if driven right, or from a roll, they are very fast

than being said, i have only seen them run 14/15's at the track(unless they have slicks). traction is practically non existant in stock form, let alone when modded.

Ya but its not the engine thats the problem, its the overall construction, neons and platforms alike are just built poorly. Anyone that knows anyone whos owned a dodge, crystler, plymoth and so on know that the cars are throw away, that wont retain value and cost you tons of money in the process of owning them.

Most american trucks are quality, they pretty much have to be since they probably take 10 times the wear and tear of a car.

id say get it! its the best bang for the the buck tuner car out there. the motor is solid and you can make a lot of power out of it.

the funny thing is that if you ask people about the car they will say... "dont get it, its a neon", but youll never hear any real problems with the motor or the car. i give props to doge for making a turbo car for around 20Gs. i just wish toyota had something like that in their line up.

The motor might be good but the rest of the car is crap take a look at the resale value of neons in general. When I was looking at cars I could afford a 96 celica st, 96-98 non gt stang, 96 eclipse and an 01 neon. Anyone esle think that is kinda a dead give away something is wrong?

well I know for a fact that Dodge/ Chrysler sucked in the early 90's, but since they have merged with mercedes, their quality has risen. Im not saying that they aren't POS's, but you know that mercedes is making sure that the cars are better than what they were. They want to make money like everyone else, and after the merge, if they didn't make better cars, they would lose money. I figure that by 2010 Dodge/ chrysler will be way better reliabliltiy/ inside wise stuff you know.

i think the biggest mistake that doge did was to name the car a Neon Srt4. if they just dropped the neon part and slightly changed the look they would have gotten a lot more respect.

if the motor is solid, then what else do you need? suspention, brakes, etc are tipical things people mod on their cars awyway.

I like them and they are just SRT-4 wink.gif My buddy had one and it seemed very nice. They seem very fast, I have heard of them running low 13's high 12's (with slicks). Don't listen to everybody else if you like the car then get it, but I would get the WRX biggrin.gif

i wouldnt say that... GM, Toyota, and i believe nissan all have very extensive warranties that are devoted specifically to customer satisfaction. if you put up enough of a bitch you can even get things not technically covered in the warranty for really dirt cheap if not free.

My best friend has a 03 PT cruiser GT turbo. (same engine as SRT-4) and it has been in the shop more in the last year than my car has in the last ten years. wink.gif

it spits and sputters and backfires like a piece.

pt cruisers were always crap

srt4's always backfire, has to do with the mufflerless exhaust

i have yet to here anything about srt4's consistantly being in the shop from my cousin who is a manager at the local dodge/chrysler dealer
