Tell me about it.

Stiffer rear end, rear ARB on the drop links and huge sticky tyres in an attempt to combat the mass.

Japanese GT-4 would probably be:
3064.43lbs via Calculator smile.gif

6th gen USDM Hatchback would be average around 2500lbs or 1133.98kg...
about a 500lbs or 226 kg difference.

truck scales aren't all that accurate. they are meant to measure a hell of a lot more weight than 2800 lbs. but it is true that the official weight of our cars is without fluids, gas, etc

You are of course aware that there's a whole world outside of the US of A.

My old ST182 would leave a US spec GT behind. I also have the honour now of being the most massive 6th gen available. Despite the ally bonnet and various other bits, she's still a good 1360-1400Kgs wet...

is that a question or statement? i believe st auto hatches are around 2415lbs.

heres a link for 94, man st hatch 2415/auto 2495

those numbers are swapped for my 97, either a typo, or i believe the reason auto is lighter for mine is toyota switched to ect 94 celica specs

Very wrong. Why does everyone think are cars are so heavy? Look at your car in the parking lot it's smaller every car out there. My ST Coupe = 2395 lbs. Lighter than the Civic, Corolla, Integra, etc. etc. etc. Can't you tell it's a small light car when driving it?

I just looked it up, and my old Geo weighed in at 2410 lb stock and had 130hp at 7000rpm, stock. I returned it to stock weight, or close to, before I sold it, and it felt a lot smaller than the Celica. It was way faster too. I always thought it had a little more hp, and was a little lighter, but there wasn't much difference. What's wrong with this Celica?

EDIT: The higher hp but still lower than expected 0-60 or 1/4 times would mean it's a dyno queen right? lol. Never thought the Celica could be called that.

Hey guys, if the car weighs in the 2000's of lbs, why does my tag say 3495lb (assuming total) and then FR 2150lb and RR 1860lb? Where are you guys getting this other weight from, if not by the tag on the car, inside the car door?

That's the GVWR, gross vehicle weight rating. That's if you have 4 of the fattest people you can find in your Celica, and each of you has brought as much luggage as you possibly can, and the car is full of gas. It's the most that the car should weigh.

QUOTE
Definition: Gross Vehicle Weight Rating

It’s how much weight a vehicle is designed to carry. The GVWR includes the net weight of the vehicle, plus the weight of passengers, fuel, cargo and any additional accessories. The GVWR is a safety standard used to prevent overloading.

Hey guys, if the car weighs in the 2000's of lbs, why does my tag say 3495lb (assuming total) and then FR 2150lb and RR 1860lb? Where are you guys getting this other weight from, if not by the tag on the car, inside the car door?

3495 seems like a lot, even with the heavy 5S-FE. My insurance card says 2409, which seems a bit low. This is probably dry weight, not curb weight.

Curb weight on the AT200 is 2415 (with all fluids). Our cars are feather weights! tongue.gif

The ST204 is around 2550, and the ST205 is ~3000

EDIT: I have only been on these forums about a year now and have answered this question about 3 times. You fail at searching, random.

Well I have looked up stuff online but i got different answers all the time, which is why this was brought to my attention and I posed the question.

1 site said the Celica weighed 2700 (roughly) and another said 2400 (roughly), and then said the coupe is 10lbs less than the hatch. I looked at those tags on gross weight, because I didn't know what else to go off of and figured the weight would be on the actual vehicle, as that information is kind of necessary when shipping across seas. I didn't know where else to look. I decided to have a look when I questioned the weight of the MR2 and it's gross said something like 3300lb.

So now I am all kinds of fogged up, mudder fogger. tongue.gif

The trim level has a lot to do with it.

If you have an ST model with no options, manual windows, no AC, no sunroof, etc... you will weigh a lot less. Chaos, my 5th Gen ST tips the scale at 2300lbs with me in her. She has gone on a minor diet.

I have seen 'stripped' hatches with the 5SFE that weigh in at 2500lbs.

Options and engine weight have A LOT to do with it.

As for how I know what Chaos weighs, unlike others who rely on random numbers thrown about, I weighed my car on a CAT certified freight scale.

Faust:
Gross weight is the total weight of the vehicle plus the total carrying capacity. Curb weight is just the weight of the vehicle including all fluids. Your owners manual tells you the max carrying capacity, so just subtract that from the gross vehicle weight.

I believe the carrying capacity on my AT200 is 700 lbs last time I checked. Yours is probably more.

Just because all Celicas you have seen have A/C doesn't mean they all came with A/C.

A/C was an option. Not all Celicas have them. I don't quote for 6th Gens, but the 5th was available without it.
