Have you seen the new Kicker line up? They have a new line called Solo X. It has an 18" sub that has 5,000 watts RMS, 10,000 watts peak. This thing weighs 100 pounds. Even their 10" and 12" are 2,500 watts RMS, 5,000 peak. Who needs that much power in a sub. . wow. . . If you thought people were hard of hearing before. .

the solo series has been out for almost a year now. and i personly dont think they are over rated,i helped install 2 of the 18s in an excursion. they are loud, but my guess is ur a JL person. to each there own.

ya, the 18" version has been out for close to 2 years now, they were in production a year before they got the 12" & 10" Solo Xs.

I think that Solos are the best bang for the buck too. My one 10" L7 outproduced my two 12" rockfords.

i think he may be right that they are still a new line...
their 12's use to be 800watts RMS i believe
and the solo X was 1,200...
but 5000RMS is a bit much...wow

nice subs Coomer, Adire Audio is top notch for the price. them and RE are making the way for car audio!. (i run Adire myself). Solo subs have been out since the 90's by the way... starting from the rounds (my favorite from Kicker) then either 98 or so the square design came out and to me Kickers Solo line has gone down hill. i like the CompVR's though. but anyway the reason why i dont like the L5's and L7's are because of pressure points, square and oval designs have pressure points and can be damaged pretty easliy, there have been countless issues with the square design, while the new Solo series does get loud it has horrible SQ, no matter what you say. listen to a set of CDT, Focal and other SQ/SQL subs and then listen to some sqaure Solo's.. then tell me you think they still have SQ. the Solo line is more SPL oriented anyway so that is a little unfair, but id run an Adire Audio Brahma or Resonant Engineering XXX against a Kicker L7's any day.. and the Solo X? id take a Tumult or MT over that (and many other subwoofers). basically as you can see im not a fan of the new Kicker line up, hell even the Comp Vr's have that stupid ass silver crap on them now.. ugly ugly ugly... although they still make good amps wink.gif i hope that atleast lasts.. also an 18" sub is more SPL oriented also. little to no SQ from them.

I have Kicker 4" Resolution components and 8" RMB-8 Midbass in my front doors, and when they work right they sound awesome together. Lately I've had some electrical gremlins that keep popping up, and not enough time to fix. But take my word...having bass up front AND in the trunk sounds great. wink.gif
