i dont think it will pass at all..

from personal experience.... a b16 motor swap into a 91 crx si. It would pass smog only when you had the stock air box, stock exhauste. But once the headers where installed, it didnt even come close to passing.

I dont think the 3s will pass at all.. You can go a head and try.. BE A LEADER FOR THE CALI 6gc'ers!!

Typically speaking, if the engine is running good, you're not running excessive ignition advance, no pings, poping, missing, etc... and the CAT is good, the tail pipe emissions should be pretty good. My only worry... 3SGTEs like to run really really rich...

here is what i did....

right before my swap, i took the car in to a local midas shop and talked to them about what i was planning to do. i told them that the jdm motor had no egr system and probably wouldnt run any cats on it. none of the guys at the shop cared and most of them started telling me old stories about how they swaped their motor when they were younger.... when it came time for my inspection they passed me with flying colors!

there are tons of shops like this. you have to remember that in ever mechanic, there is a car lover. so if you bring them a cool car, they would probably hook you up.

just imagine if you brought them a 1,000hp supra. how many of those guys would say "sorry, your smog levels are too high, bring the car back to stock" ?
