Hello everyone I need some advise from someone. I want to put turbo on my 95 ST celica. I dont know what turbo I could possibly use. Which turbo should I use? Does anyone know how much all need parts will cost? If someone could tell me what I should do it would be a big help.

I'd probably go with a T28 if I had a 7A-FE and I was going to turbocharge it. Expect to pay $1,000-3,000, depending on what all you get, what quality your stuff is, where you get it from, etc.
You can find everything you need to know by searching though, so I recommend that. ![]() -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

i think if you were to not exceed high boost levels and keep up with matinance i think it would be alright. keep in mind many people dont exceed 11 lbs on stock bottom end becouse of weak rods and pistons. do some more research i think if i were you i would invest in a 3s or a 4ag 20v. |

Keep in mind when turboing a stock engine, you can not use to much boost. Your only going to be able to run small boost until you blow somthing. Also depending on your milage its only going to make it ware down a lot quicker. Also like what people are saying and being vewry nice about is, dont start anything that you dont know about, use the search tool and read as MUCH as possible. When turboing a stock engine your putting a lot more stress on the engine that was never designed for it. The head is an econy design so your already resticted there. The rods have been proven to be poretty week, so they wont be able to handle much power. Also the trany isnt designed to run much power eiather. When you start upgrading these things, you will be getting into $3000-$5000 range. Then you will be upgrading and replacing as you go. Alsop some other things to keep in mind. turbo engines are much less reliable. when you start messing and adding stuff thats not ment or planned to eb there, your gunna have things fail and run into Lots of problems. |

What's the CR on the n/a motor? Above 8.5:1 then you're going to run a huge risk of detonation, unless you are planning on running a decent water injection system - and keep the boost to a low level.
Personally, I wouldn't bother. I think you'd be better off putting in a 3S-GTE which is designed from scratch to be a turbo motor. More hassle getting it in I know, but far better for reliability IMHO. there are not many 7afte out me being one i hit 170whp 180trq 9.5 psi dyno proven on my set up and only street tuned.
the comp is 9.5:1 if you have the money to swap do that if you just want a 50whp+ increase turbo the car i did and loved it but now i want more power so im building a hybrid 7agte shooting for 300whp now i'm not going to get into this but a 3sgte only puts down about 200-210 whp (2nd gen) only a few are pushing more like xxx_mina if you do it right buy a front clip rebuid the motor bigger turbo etc you'll be in really good shape but were talking alot of money so look at what power you want and what your budget is ![]() -------------------- yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

QUOTE(nik @ Mar 18, 2005 - 8:08 PM) now i'm not going to get into this but a 3sgte only puts down about 200-210 whp (2nd gen) only a few are pushing more like xxx_mina yeah, xxx_mina has about 300 the last i heard. IMO, if you want a little extra juice for your st without a whole ton of comitment, the 7afte is your choice. If you want a race car, you have to get a 3sgte, but there is a lot more involved with that of course. This post has been edited by CheesyLobster: Mar 18, 2005 - 5:42 PM |

also you havent put in the fact that xxx_mina has a father that is a very rich doctor, just put that into mind. he told me his story about a year ago and pretty much he had his car out for repairs most of the time... even the 3sgte is unreliable on how high he was boosting.

I turbocharged my celi and I was a noob. Its a pain in the ass, especially if you dont have a customs shop that knows what they are doing either. My engine had lots of ware on it from the turbo because the engine was weak in the first place. If it has high miles on it then you may want to get it rebuilt before you turbochrge it. I would have done a swap instead, thats jus my opinion.
