cool, thanks. but if you're bussy, no worries. i read another post that said it was a 74 bulb. my main question is: do you need to use that crazy acc key setting (the shop manual i just got said something about this) to take the ignition out? or can it be disassembled (enough) without putting the key in the ignition?

thanks

ok sorry for being mad late with this!

user posted image

first thing. pop off the the plastic piece that covers the ignition keyhole.^^VV

user posted image

user posted image
then look under the keyhole for a small screw.^^

user posted image
pull off the clear plastic piece which should be connected to the bulb^^

user posted image
twist off the bulb and you're left with is the plastic piece (you might want to take off the green condom)^^

user posted image
i ended up makeing a little enclosure out of red divider tabs. you could take out the bulb. i dont know if they make the bulbs in different colors but you take it out to napa or somewhere and check if they make them in different colors.

o yea then just put every thing back 2gether.

I have to take my dash apart anyway so im doing it. The cig lighter is easy to change the light....just twist the side connector and light pops out. dont bother with the lighter itself, i had to clean mine cuz it was so dirty and it was a bastard to take apart.
does anybody know if the celica comes stock with an ignition light bc my gt is lit up and i just noticed that my st didnt, either it went out or it doesnt have one.
Jubz86, did you change your ac unit to green also? i am wondering how i disconnect the cables from it (one is such a pain).
I can post pics if naybody wants.

just did mine in blue. had to file down the num74 led a little before it'd fit without deforming the socket too much for that to fit back into the transparent ring. the socket thing was sorta square-ish.

got the file out, laid it on the table, gripped the led in some plyers, then took a few long swipes down each of the 4 directions to...square-off-the circumference??

anyways, thanks again for the writeup. when i figure out how to work this digital camera i'll take some pics.

Yeah i had the same prob with the 74 for the ignition. The ST does not come with a clear ignition light. I took the one off of the gt and put it on my st. changed the clock light. Heres some pics.

I'd love to do this, especially now that I've finally got directions (or at least somebody to harass) on changing the clock colour. Problem is, I just installed my 200W Alpine deck and specifically got a black face and green display to match the rest of the car. mad.gif

Oh well, at least I can fix the ignition light.

Instructions on changing the power window switch lights

the cig lighter is a strange toyota bulb with a huge base. i got a num74led and then smashed the hell out of the toyota bulb and then put the led in there. didn't even use solder, just bent it the right way. hasn't failed on me yet (about 1 year) though i might replace it with a soldered led+resistor series at a later date. the plastic ring is more translucent than transparent, and even the stock toyota bulb didn't light the ring very well.

Thanks for the write up. I love what you did. Did you get the color gauges? Or did you get the red LEDs for it?

I broke the lighter bulb, how can i replace it, it sucks. By the way I am dipping my regular bulbs in blue paint for glass that i got in walmart for 2 bucks. Its a cheaper option.

what size LED is the clock, and the window controls.

What is the difference between wagner 194 and Sylvana 72 thye look the same. Which one should i use.

On another note, i have replaced the bulb for the bin on the passenger site, however it does not lght up, anyone has an exp. I dont think they will make a fuse just for this, since everythig else works fine. thanks...
