its a good idea if you want to loose weight and get some more performance.
But when you re-install it.. expect to pay for freon agian and get the whole system re-oiled.. |

Why would you want to get rid of the Air conditioning? makes the car harder to sell, not to mention uncomfortable for everyday driving in the summer, it also is used for defrost in the winter. The Celica compressors only weigh around 15-20 lbs. you would need to remove the condensor in front of the radiator and the evaporator core in the dash and all the lines and you still may not reach 50 lbs weight savings, which performancewise would barely be noticeable if at all.
Now, if its already broken and you have no intention of ever fixing the A/C, you might as well remove it, but if you ever intend to sell the car, it will lower the value some. And it is usually more expensive to get it working again if the system has been open to the air for any time at all. |

QUOTE(nk_pimpin18 @ Apr 27, 2005 - 6:08 AM) wouldnt it help because it will take some stress of the belts? Not enough to matter, its free-wheeling normally, unless you have the air or defroster on. |
