I'm looking to buy a Celica and I found one in Charlotte, North Carolina. The problem is that I'm 8 hours away in Pennsylvania. I called the guy and he told me that the car was in an accident and he 'fixed it'. The only problem he said it has is that the bumper around the headlights isn't perfect. What else should I ask him? I asked about the frame and he said he pulled it straight. Should I avoid buying this car or what? It's a black GT and he wants $3,400 for it. He's going to email me pictures tomorrow, I will post them so you can take a look and see if you can spot anything my eye might miss.

My question is- is anyone located near Charlotte, North Carolina that wouldn't mind doing me a favor and going to check the car out for me? It would save me an 8 hour drive plus about $100 or so on gas just to turn around and go home if the condition isn't acceptable. What do you guys think about this? Is it wise to buy it or just let this one go and keep looking?

If anyone can help me I would REALLY appreciate it. smile.gif If you think the car is ok, I'll come check it out, maybe with my girlfriends brother who is a mechanic. If I buy it, I'll pay you some money for helping me out.

Yeah where is it located this area is bigger than it looks? Also what year because $3,400 would be high on a 96+, we have '94 STs here for that price in good condition.

Thanks for the replies! smile.gif I REALLY appreciate the help you guys offered. I'm going to PM you the address of the guy. I'm still waiting on the pictures from him. Thanks so much! biggrin.gif

It's a 1994 GT with leather, sunroof, keyless entry, cold air intake, new tires, new brakes, cd player, and a new clutch. I can't remember what else the guy said. He said the front seat leather isn't the best but I guess I won't mind for now.

Usually when someone says that around here that means there's cuts and wear holes in it. I can help easternpiro1 look since I have a GT and I can tell what parts might (if any) be missing. I can take some more pics also. No problem, I drove all the way to Montana to see a Chevelle and it turned out to be rusted all the way through the floor and trunk pan.

easternpiro1 went to check the car out for me and he say's it's really nice and runs great. The only thing wrong; isn't actually with the car, but that the guy can't find the keyless entry remote. I guess I could just get one on eBay though...what's involved with programing it to unlock the car, or can only a Toyota dealership do that?

Darksecret, if you can check the car out as well that would be Great! You mentioned about a couple 'hidden' problems that might not be visibile to someone not as knowledgeable, such as myself :-P

I'm going to come down this coming Saturday to look at the car and hopefully buy it. I'd really like to bring my girlfriends brother along since he's a mechanic but I'm not sure if he's going to be able to make it this Saturday.

If anyone else wants to check the car oput between now and Saturday or if anyone wants to meet me to check the car out on Saturday, that would be awesome. smile.gif

Yeah, easternpiro1 came by my store last night and told me more about it, I didn't know if you were still going for it or not though, from what he told me it sounded like a good deal, as far as hidden problems he said it seemed very clean but he checked and couldn't see any visible leaks. As far as keyless you would be looking around a hundred to get it replaced, if you want it go for it my brother lost mine and we use a toggle switch to keep the alarm from going off after reconnecting the battery.
