when i start the car i hear a "heartbeat" thru the subs before the music even starts. it does it till the bass kicks, then is gone till the bass stops. wtf is it?? -------------------- Jared Harwell

Is there any type of filter on the amp you have?
If you pause the music, or turn the stereo the whole way down, does it go away? Are you using a cellphone nearby? What type of interconnects do you have, and are they near any other electronics? -------------------- If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

not sure about the filter
it goes away when i turn the stereo down i have my air compressor grounded with my sub ground. my compressor is right in front of my amp, but it doesn't run all the time. my valves r right under my subs. -------------------- Jared Harwell

If it hits once when you start your car, it's because your amp is turning on before it recieves a music signal. If you dont have the remote line connected to your HU, then try that. If it is, or if that doesnt work, you can make a delay for it so the amp turns on after the HU does clicky
If it hits more than once before the music comes on, its most likely a bad ground from your HU. -------------------- ![]() |

change the RCA's, and just incase, make sure the ground is bare metal... sand down the paint if there is any.

my gfs car did the same thing, i noticed the ground wire was stripped from the amp moving...put it back in and no popping. for my celi, its key to have a solid ground for the amp.

Try disconnecting your RCA's from the amp and see if it still does it. If it does, you probably need a ground distributer/isolator and/or a capacitor. 1 Farad should work for 1200watts. If it only beats while the RCAs are in, then you probably have something up with your reciever or the RCAs are being run too closely to something thats interfering with them. Does your amp suport soft-on?

why the hell would he need a capacitor? that has absolutely nothing to do with his subs popping... his subs are popping because there is a sqaure signal somewhere... and he doesnt need a ground loop isolator because there isnt any alt whine, try a new ground... SAND the paint down around it, make sure its bare metal... not to your tire jack or some $hit.. and if it still has the problem, try some different RCA's.

Also may be that you are getting feeback. Are your RCA's and power wire ran on the same side of that car? Or do they cross at all? After you start your car, make sure your subs and everything are on and then click your highbeams (like your flashing someone), and if you hear that same popping noise when you do that than you most lilkey are getting feedback. So then just make sure your RCA's and power wire do not cross or touch at all, and see hos that works.
EDIT: I had the same problem where my power wire and RCA's crossed. So i re-ran them and now it is fine This post has been edited by TRD6GC: Jun 13, 2005 - 11:59 PM |
