A few months back in the "why cops suck" thread (it's been deleted) I said that we had one of the biggest cocaine dealers on the east coast in my town, well this happened last week but it was the local cops that got him.

Marshville businessman arrested on weapons, drug charges
BY RITCHIE E. STARNES -- WINGATE (July 8, 2005)

The owner of Marshville Hardware was arrested early Thursday after law enforcement officials allege he tried to break in a Wingate residence while armed with two .45 caliber handguns and two M-16 assault rifles and 850 rounds of ammunition.

Charles Ray Tomberlin, 42, known as "Shot" Tomberlin, of Marshville was jailed after deputies responded to a 3 a.m. call at 902 Clark St. and found an armed Tomberlin trying to force his way inside the home, according to Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey.
Tomberlin was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, second degree trespass, and possession of cocaine, Cathey said. He was released from jail Thursday after posting a $25,000 bond, records show.

Mark Walker Efird, 39, of Marshville was also arrested on charges of a convicted felon possessing a firearm. He was given a $30,000 bond.

Deputies received a 911 call from a woman who reported that someone was trying to kick down her front door. Cathey said Tomberlin was searching for a man who he believed was at the residence. The female caller was home alone at the time, Cathey added.

Efird remained inside a truck outside the residence during the incident, Cathey said.

Investigators are still trying to determine why Tomberlin was looking for the man and why he was heavily armed. Because Tomberlin was in possession of 2.1 grams of cocaine, Cathey suspects the motive might have been drug related.

Tomberlin was convicted in 1982 for possession and the sale and delivery of cocaine, Cathey said.

Although convicted felons are prohibited from owning a firearm, Tomberlin sells firearms at his hardware store. Cathey said Tomberlin operates the gun shop portion of the store through his father's name.

The real story was that Shot was looking for this guy because he owed about $50,000 in drug money and had called the guy prior to him going to his house so the guy left. The DEA is on Shot's ass and the IRS is after the business since he is coming a couple hundred thousand missing on his income. Our local police need to be investigated also because the chief I know for a fact is in on this by allowing Shot's truck to travel to Charlotte (30 mins. west of here) without much cop trouble.

BTW it doesn't seem like he'd be all that big with 2.1 grams, but that was probably his personal stash this guy has three major dealers in Charlotte and a number of them in other cities, Orlando and Miami are two that I know of.
