So here is my problem.
The car doesn't smell like gas when it's just standing and idling. But after a 5 min drive, when I come to a stop and turn off my car and get out of the car. Right at the time when I open the door there is always a scent of gasoline, and then it just goes away. Do any of you have a problem like that, and if its dangerous or not?
Thank you

There is no gas leaking anywhere, and my friends 94 camry does the same thing. So I was wondering if this happens to everyone one who owns celica or camry?

i got the problem and i know what it is. theres a small flex line (braided rubber) comin off the gas tank going up to the filler neck. Mine's got a small leak, like it leaks enough to smell it, and if the cars in the air you can see that the little hose clamp's bolt is coated in gas, the part costs like $10 or so from toyota, im replacing mine this week. But yea, i had that problem since about a week or 2 after i bought the car. I figured it out when i was workin on my car during school one day. Go to toyota and get them to pull up the diagram of the fuel tank and theres a small flex line goin off the tank to the filler neck.

pop your hood and see if its coming from the engine bay or the rear of the car.

Could u do a little write up on this when you are done fixing it? And rank it from 1-10 on how hard it is.

I dont know where its coming from, cuz it happens only when I open the door or go open the trunk. I did look into an engine bay today after a little ride and there is no gas smell around there. So I guess I have the same problem as Valo666

start the car and let it run .... pop the hood start sniffing around the drivres side where your fuel send and charcole canister lines are.... then lift up your rear seats and see if the smell is coming from there (fuel pump) then check the rear of the car around the gas fill door..

Sweet...both my Celi and Supra smell like gas...the Celi even more. Hell, even stopped, it smells like somebody poured a gallon of gas on the carpet. I still haven't found any leaks. Gas milleage sucks, though...so maybe there is an invisible leak somewhere, haha...it's gonna catch on fire one day...I hope not :/

u say write a how 2. If u have access to a hoist or jack and a 10 mm socket, and a close to empty/empty tank...its easy as hell. Two small hose clamps, undo them, slide the hose off the tank and the neck, take the new hose, slide it back on with maybe a little bit of grease, tighten the hose clamps, go for a test drive and filler up. Im gettin mine done while its in the shop, i got hit 2day so it needs 2 b done. But yea, its easy enough to do. cheap too.

I did the smelling thing and it doesnt smell inside of the car or when I open the hood. But when I poped the gas door open I got a pretty big sniff of gasoline. So I guess I'll need to replace one of the hoses in the rear. Well I might do it next week or something.
