Hey everyone, I just wanted to know, besides a boost gauge,
what gauges are needed or highly recommended to have with
a 7afte that won't be boosting more than 10 psi??
Thanks in advance

I'd get oil pressure and fuel pressure. You know... personally. An EGT guage would be nice also.

if # is no limit, wideband, boost, and oil pressure???
i know the egt can be used to tell if running too rich/lean by the temp change, but not sure what else it can do...if not oil pressure, then EGT tongue.gif

I'd scrap it all for a wideband if $ is limited.

i don't even have fuel pressure. which is something i was wandering about, i will have a 3s boosting around 25 psi (when racing only, not daily of coarse), wiht a walbro fuel pump (255 i think, will be installed by XAT and they said what ever size pump i end up needing, depending on the fule consumption. i think they normally install a 255 wiht the swap, but i'm not getting the normal swap). and also upgrade injectors, i have been told by several people that i don't need a fuel pressure gauge, does anyone have any imput on that, and if you say i do need one, can you please tell me why.

U know what? if u want to be safe in monitor your data u'd need almost all of them.
Fuel press: to check pressure loss or pump failure
Oil press: to check oil pump is ok and press not excessive or not too low
Oil temp: important cuz too high temp doesn't allow oil to keep it's properties
A/F: needless to say for what I think.....
EGT: high boost=high pressure=high temperature and they need to stay in limits
Boost: I'd suggest EBC which allow u to control boost spikes and monitor is safely

If u miss monitor one of those things and the one u're not lookin at goes wrong, 90% is too late to save your engine so....everything is up to you biggrin.gif
Just my 2 cents opinion anyway.....

what wideband did you use? Surely a cheap one will come out one of these days... Right now $300 is the best I've seen.

Close I hope, the toughest thing is tryin to convince my dad to let me spend the money, which I have. Hopefully I'll get custom exhaust in the next two weeks, and then next month to work on the setup before school starts. (is an oil pressure gauge 0-80 psi high enough)

i have a factory turbo motor. all the tuning is already done by toyota. no need for a wideband.

if you are doing a 7afTe or 5sfTe you will need one to know if the stock ecu and piggy back combo is making you run lean or ritch.

wideband, oil pressure, and boost guage is what I would do if I did it all over again. Also, I wouldn't buy an autometer oil pressure guage. Get one that actually gives you accurate readings (e.g. Greddy).

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Yeah, don't cheap out on the gauges. By the time you finish buying all the monitoring gauges, you'll be past the $1K mark easy...that's searching for the best prices.

That was a question and a statement. smile.gif

I was asking you what brand you have, and then I made a sad statement about how they are overpriced.
