So I was reading the latest Modified Mag the other day when I came upon an article on the lotus. They had created a dry carbon fiber body for it, dropping 730 pounds I believe it said. A Lotus' curb weight is 1776.9 (automatic), so with this carbon kit on a manual it is about 1000lbs or less. In a previous magazine, I dont remember which one, but they had a turbo kit for it that bumped it up quite a ways.

If I had 100,000 dollars then I could buy my fancy 48K Lotus, 20K on the carbon fiber body, and then spend the final 32K on engine mods I would have a 900 pound 300+HP rocket.....I want it NOW

Any one else agree??

Oh yes, and is Lotus owned by Toyota? because the Lotus has the Celica engine in it...

Yeah the Elise is an awesome car. They dropped 700 off the weight? Damn. It was already feather-light. Add in the mid engine and it is a handling machine.

As far as I know Lotus is still sovereign, they couldn't pass emissions in the US so they got the Celica engine.

SCC had a turbo Elise from Forced Fed that bumps the HP to 250. 12,5 quarter, 1.08g skidpad. And the blue ones just look cool!

What more could anyone want? It is probably one of the best handling cars out there with super car performance at a reasonable price. That and it gets good gas mileage so take that!

all the thing is is a go-kart that gets 30+ MPG and seats another person. It hauls so much ass that I could not even imagine what it would be like to drive one. When I get the chance I am going to go test drive one with my dad, so that we can take it out without the salesman coming with us and we can see what it is really all about.

When I finish school at ITT and get a better job I am going to start saving up until I get a really really good job, at which point I will go ahead and buy my lotus and make some payments on it.

The US model weighs 1900+ lbs.
Does an automatic exist? I never heard of the Elise having an automatic. Wouldn't make any sense.

Actually I only have to pay $2,600.. Since I am still a dependant (under 24) I qualified for a un-subsidized (sp?) Federal Stafford loan.. Meaning I can only take out a certain amount, in this case $2,600.. and I dont have to start paying it back until I am out of school, and it doesnt collect interest, so it will still only be $2,600 when I get out of school.. the rest of my schooling bills my parents are picking up the tab.. a little over 16K a year for 2 years, plus whatever grants and scholarships I can get after this quarter, because then the new FAFSA goes into effect for 05-06 year at the beginning of fall and I can start applying for more grants and stuff at that point.

And the car... yes do take a picture.. that would be sexy! but he must have something fancy on it if it set him back 70K, they are only 46K cars from the base model...(I think.. last time I read..)
