I'm just wondering... on a 98 Celica GT/GT-S is the spare tire supposed to pop up a bit? like, the trunk floor carpet isn't flat, you can see where the spare tire is because the carpet is bulging out a bit and makes the shape of a tire

yea man it is...dont worry about it..if u want a flush trunk, take ur spare out, make a wood pice to fill in the space and get a bolt to fit the thread as the original nut/speed nut holding the spare down.

thats interesting because in my trunk the floor is perfectly flat. theres a piece of cardboard or something that goes over my spare tire well and i dont think the trunk of a 98 is different at all from a 94

Your spare time sticks up half a foot?

Or did you mean 15mm?

Maybe its because some spare tires are true size tires with the same width as the normal tire (205 )
And some have a small spare tire. Exact tranlation would call it a drive home tire.

Exactly, so to get flat trunk floor one needs this narrow temp wheel. There is no way to fit full size spare and have it flat there. Unless one lifts up whole trunk floor by 15 cm. rolleyes.gif

I have a full size spare in my 94 GT (European - Swiss edition with Super Strut Suspension). In the original catalogue supplied, it says that it is a standard, not an option.

I just made a false floor out of some particle board. works pretty good and kinda redirects the notes from the subwoofer (or maybe its just in my mind lol).
