Well, my roof needed recleared so I decided to go head and paint the whole thing. I wanted to go with black, but I finally decided on staying the same color due to time restraints. I'll post pics when I'm done. She's looking good, and I'm trying to clean it up nice, shaving stuff and what not.

Just please tell me you disassembled before painting -- or at least removed all the lights. I'm amazed at how many people spend money on a paint job and then mask around the the lights, never mind the more difficult to remove trim.

No, why would I remove these things? It's easy to mask around them. It just wastes time to take this stuff out. If I'm going the same color, it doesn't matter.

Obviously, you haven't read many of my posts. My dad owns a body shop, and I've been working with him sence I can remember. I know the ins and outs of painting a car. I guess I understand your post though, there are a lot of people that haff way do these things. I just feel insulted that I could be mistaken for one. Then again, I'm a little touchy. You can also find that out from my other posts. And it's 8:30 in the morning, and I didn't really sleep last night.

I'm taking some haff way pics today. If I can figure out how to get them off Mom's cell phone and on to the computer, I will post them.

It only takes 30 seconds to take off the turns and sidemarkers and 5 minutes to take off the tails. I've never taken off my headlights, but I'd rather just take that stuff off.

definitely take that stuff off. I've seen cars where it was just masked off and the paint eventually flakes off around the area that was masked because there is no fresh paint underneath. When I got my paint quote (from a very reputable body shop btw) they were going to strip the body of EVERYTHING before painting. No offense, but I do think it would have been best to remove that stuff.

But then again since its the same color it's not as big of deal, but if you changed colors you better have stripped that car down lol.

Ran into problems today and didn't get any work done at all. A show truck came in with an emergency and we had to drop what we were doing to fix it. This guy has money, and he pays good. So we do pretty much whatever he wants. I couldn't sand anymore on my car because it would through up dust, and the guy didn't want it on his truck, it's understandable. I forgot the camera, but I'll take it tomorrow.

To clear up the issue with painting; I don't know if no one is reading the second part of my post, or the sarcasm is too subtle. Of course I took this thing apart. Like I said guys, I've been working in a body shop my whole life, I know what I'm doing. I prefer if this topic wasn't filled with people telling me that I need to take stuff off.

I dont think peoples' intentions are to bee rude... but since we're a community here we offer the best advice we can give... You'd do the same I'm guessing.... When someone spends money to do stuff everyone wants to make sure nothing is being skimmed over.

I know your right, I'm just a little to sensitive sometimes. Especailly when I'm at my parents house. I can't sleep at all here, and I'm in a general bad mood when I'm home. If a modderater would check my posts, most of the time I get mad on here it's coming from this IP address.
