Hi all,

I've got a Canadian GTS and I want to take it to California with me. I know there are several differences in the engine wiring, an additional O2 sensor, etc.

I know it's probably easy to sell my car and buy one down there, but I'm not looking for that answer. I'll do it if I have to, but my car's a peach and I'd rather keep it.

Has anyone successfully licensed a non-California Celica in California?

Thanks,

-kevin

I have some info on the Cali spec STs...

My 95 ST is a cali spec and I recently checked out a 97 ST non cali...we both have 2 o2 sensors but /they are mounted differently. My cali spec has 2 cats, one in the downpipe and one in the exhaust. The non cali has one cat in the exhaust and just a strait pipe from the manifold. What you would need is a GT cali specs exhaust manifold and the exhaust from the second cat up. You would be basicly replacing your cat with a smaller cat in the exhaust and adding a second (primary) cat in your downpipe to the cali spec manifold.

I am planning to in a few weeks de-cali spec my ST wink.gif

Looking at the wiring diagrams (5SFE), the wiring to the injectors is different, and there is a 2nd O2 sensor (I've got 1).

Is it possible that switching to a US GT-spec exhaust system might be enough to get me through emissions, without having to modify any wiring? Not sure exactly how strict things are down there or how clean the Celica runs as is.
