After having my split padded armrest sit in the closet for about 6 months, I finally decided to take it to an upholster to see how much it would cost to fix it up. He's putting the same material on the arm rest and sewing it exactly the same for $30.

Since im fiberglassing my doors/armrest/ and painting my interior I figure my cost for redoing my armrest is about $12.

Armrest with fabric over original vinyl...

Fiberglassed, notice the light spots thats where my armrest had tremendous amount of ripples in it.

Bondo'd to smooth out.. circled area is one of the low spots i need to go over.
I painted a coat over it to determine my low/high spots... than rebonded to fix.

Will have painted pics soon.

It's very soft and I prefer it over the hard one underneath. I think that armrest was an add-on for the Limited Edition Celicas.

I have that 'chunky leather armrest' in my 1994. Must have been part of some package, maybe with the leather interior? I think its actually a perfect size.

Looks good demontooth. smile.gif

I see you're in Indiana, mine was fixed in Louisville for the $30, so maybe that's an option for you.

I threw my blocky armrest cover away a few weeks ago because it was ripped. I should of sold it on here for a few bucks. You can still buy them new on some Toyota sites for like $50.
