i have a lot of miles on my car, starting to burn oil, and a lot of white smoke in the mornings.. some say head gasket, i'm just wondering on prices of buying just another 5sfe, or what would be my best bet? i don't want anything *super* powerful, and preferrably non-turbo. I know of the 3sge, but what would be better to do? And easier... thanks.

1mzfe is a bad swap.. it's a lot more difficult than a 3s and it's not a performance engine anyway. better off with a 3sge... of course another 5sfe would be easiest and cheapest

well. i wasn't saying you can't do it. i was saying it may not be the best choice for performance... but it's worth a shot... i know @ least 2 people who've swapped a 1mzfe into a 5sfe camry... and i remember some guy who swapped a 1mzfe into a mr2... and they said it was difficult. it will be cheaper than a 3s since these motors and parts for them are abundant in all of NA... but more custom fabrication is needed

Adrian Averginos on celicatech.com is driving a fifth-gen with a 1MZFE.

k back to the 5sfe.......
any other ideas besides just doing the straight up swap to what i already have, just in better condition. Or is the 3sge really, really worth it. And how much extra am i looking at for the beams 3sge? -------------------- ![]() |

as far as non-turbos go. if u want performance and with a stock motor your best bet is most likely the 3sge. not sure how much extra is a beams compared to regular 3s tho... although if later on u want even more power, since the 3sge is more for NA power... it may be more expensive to build up.
3sge isn't your only choice. you could try the 1mzfe... it's just more work... as a side note... i wonder if anyone has tried to swap A series motors in a GT... since ST's can be modified to fit S series, it seems logical that we can do the reverse for a GT... then you can fit 4age's in there... altho i'm not sure if that's the brightest idea... actually.. it probably isnt. but jsut a thought This post has been edited by elvasoshexai: Aug 29, 2005 - 10:30 PM -------------------- |
