my auto st wouldnt let me even if i wanted to. i dont think a surburban town like mine would have the organized street races like that anyways. also, its illegal, dangerous, and stupid. i respect the law even if i dont always obey it.

Anyone who races on a public road is a complete and utter tosser. No arguements.
It is totally stupid and the participants are usually young pricks who have a severly depleted neural function and an extremely small ****. If you want to race, do it on a circuit or on an officially closed road. You should also have a helmet and no passengers (unless they have a helmet AND a full harness). At least then, if you have an accident, you are unlikely to injure/kill someone else and you stand a better chance of surviving. I often wonder how street racers would feel if someone close to them was killed by some idiot racing on the street? Guess it wouldn't appear to be such a cool thing to do then would it? Okay, accidents do happen with 'normal' driving, but think how much your chances of crashing are increased by when racing. Don't do it. It's dumb. I used to attend them! where they would block off a whole road and race! it was exciting but never really worth it. I never saw an accident first hand but definetly heard of them on the nights i didnt go!
it used to be HUGE up here - we would get up to 500 cars but now its like 30 cars and nothing too exciting! -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

im pretty shure this person who made this topic didnt want to know how dumb street racing is... just ur stories of how some of them went down... i do tiny little street races... *ahem* highway or freeway little goes, nothing more. tried this light to light thing once and that didnt turn out pretty, other guy got busted. but myself have never done the whole f&f racing thing, that just calls for cops.

I goto the meets, used to race when I had a faster car, and I have only ran my 6gc once against a MR2, still pretty well known in our scene even tho its died down alot, but still pretty popular.
I am not against originized races, spotters, proper road blockedge and all the steps nessary's but the people who do it during the day time in traffic are idiots. Valo666 didn't want to hear a dozen people talk about how dumb street racing is. He could have gone anywhere to hear that. Your not going change anyones beliefs by yelling your opinion anyway. If you don't have anything to add the the thread, then shut up and keep your opinions to yourself.
As for me, I've never done any organized street racing like your talking about, but I do enjoy "acceleration tests" at lights. The other night I had two motorcycles behind me. We got to a light, and one of them pulled into the lane to my left, the other to my right. It was like some sort of movie. Smart-a$$ crotch rockets. Almost makes me want to get one. -------------------- ![]() |

The only street racing I ever saw was where someone would pull up next to you on the highway, go the same speed, give ya the nod to race and then you off...

I once saw this street race where there was this super fast Orange Toyota Supra with decals on it going against a real nice black Dodge Charger. Then, they both hit their NOS and jumped over a railroad track and then black Charger hit a semi and flipped. It was cool.

you havent seen the street races here in SoCal the real ones anyway, they are dominated by people in their late 20's to well into 50+ years old. and they dont just race around from light to light. they have set streets that they go to in the middle of the night with look outs everywhere. oh yea, and they only race for money, otherwise, they dont even pull their car out of the garage. i went to one in palmdale. long ass straight road in the middle of the desert, no one around for miles. the race was for $1160. turbo mustang vs turbo civic. then a few weeks ago i followed these kids(16-20) to a local industrial center. it too was empty, but these were the moron kids that just race for fun, there were 26 cars there with about double that in people. at the end of the night i had to help a moron get his car off of a hill where he crashed trying to take a 90 degree turn at 85+mph in a tiburon. everyone tore ass out of there when that happend, i wasnt actually there because i left shortly after i arrived(no one wanted to run for money a real organized street race is a lot of excitement. if you go to one, my advice is to just watch, **** can get crazy when the loser does not want to pay up -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

I haven't raced in about a month and of course racing is stupid it kills a couple hundred people a year (so do truckers, well thats usually in the thousands). IDK bad or not i'll do it because I would personally rather take the chance of being hit by a Civic doing 65mph than a Mustang at a strip doing 120mph, but that's just me (BTW that almost happened twice at Rockingham last time I was there). Street racing does have some sad endings, like this guy had his alignment knocked off, but was out the following weekend with enough a** to blow his tires in a burnout (for whatever reason IDK).
![]() ![]() BTW he asked who races, not if it was bad, if you want to knock it then go find some muscle head NHRA forum and talk about how bad it is there, oh wait organized drag racing was started by a bunch of street racers prior to the first drag strips in use (dry lake beds in the Mohave) after WWII (cars and racing have been around much longer). Saying street racing is bad and nothing ever comes from it would be like saying the NHRA, NASCAR, D1GP, and even the WRC are bad because that's what came from it, if not for street racing then you haters would have no Formula D to watch on TV or a local drag strip so stop knocking and learn a little more than the bogus a** fatality stats that the NHRA post from like 3 years ago (in which there was like 3 in the entire state of Florida over a 2 year period).
