I am in the process of getting customized exhaust. the piping is 2.25 and the muffler is an Apex-i N1. it will be from the cat back. My problem is that my friends are saying that it would be "dumbass loud" without a resonator. I want loud but not ticket loud you know. if it is to loud then i was gonna go with a magnaflow resonator. i want to try and not use one though. so for all the people that have customized exhaust, can i have your opinion and if possible a small vid of peoples exhaust? i saw some vids already on the forum but i rather have better judgement before spending money thanks!!!!

I have a full 2.5" exhaust on mt ST and it isnt loud at all. Once I get up into the 3.5K and upwards it gets loud, but not rice loud, a nice deep tone. I have a Ractive muffler and both cats. I am sure it would be plenty loud if I got a cat delete pipe.
I haven't ever heard a N1 on a 6GC, but I have heard magnaflow and I love the way they sound. I think if you were to buy an exhaust system to a cat-back with magnaflow and have them do a slight angle exit, cause there isnt anything sexier than an exhaust coming out at a slight angle... -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

you know player, i stress that alot and the thing is though the brand i am going to use for the resonator is magnaflow, the muffler is apex-i N1. i just wanted to see how "dumbass loud it is? most likely i will put a resonator on i just wanted opinions.
Jaws4 god: i got an estimate for about 180 dollars. 100 to lay the piping down and 80 for the welding to attach the muffler to the piping. the cost of the muffler and resonator is up to you. and mostlikely all the shops you go to will only lay the piping in the stock location. |

when i had my exhaust put on i had it 2.5 from cat and a n-1 muffler, no res..., it was loud...(people said they could hear me coming from about 1/2 to 3/4 mile away), but had a great tone it was deep not ricey.... i never got a ticket, but who knows i may have been lucky... a local muffler place did it for 125$ not includeing price of muffler....

I took mine to a local exhaust only shop. I had some welds fixed and new hangers fabricated and installed for 100 bucks.

I just got my magnaflow muffler put on with 2.25 piping from the cat back no resonator. It has a nice deep tone and is not to loud at all when driving normally. If you step on it though it will get loud but not to loud and the deep tone stays with it through the rpm range so theres no ricey sound. Muffler price $160 instalation and piping $160.
