Over the winter I'm planning on doing a full-wire tuck and conversion to Megasquirt with EDIS on my 4A-GE. I want my bay to be show-car clean. smile.gif

Tentative plans are to hide wires, relocate the fuse box, remove the windshield washer fluid fill nozzle and make one that I can get to by removing the front bumper, cutting off the battery tray and grinding the crap off of the frame rail, getting a different coolant reservoir that can be mounted lower down under the frame rail, removing the power steering or getting a pump with a built-in tank(like the ST's) and mounting it behind the engine if possible, removing the ignitor and coil(duh...I'll be using EDIS for igntion wink.gif), removing the A/C compressor, moving the fuel filter to the firewall behind the engine and grinding off the existing mount, and some other stuff. The A/C lines and front relay box are already gone. I want to run polished velocity stacks and polish the header and make a plate that diverts more air to the radiator(can't remember what they're called...cooling panels maybe?), grind off extra studs and weld extra holes shut and stuff and paint everything too. I may even try to find a slightly shorter radiator so that I can have it not be as visible. I also want to make a custom throttle cable bracket so that I can use a shorter throttle cable that comes in from the other side.

Now here are the questions:

1. Can I remove the charcoal canister? What exactly does it do?

2. Does anyone know where to buy universal fuel filters that can mount to the firewall?

3. Can I paint the top of the radiator with high-heat Duplicolor paint?

4. Do you guys think it's possible to move the windshield wiper motor elsewhere? Like on the other side of the firewall? I'm not sure how it works and haven't seen schematics or anything so I dunno if this is at all feasible.

Any other concerns, questions, or comments would be appreciated. I'm trying to research as much as possible now so that I can start on this fairly soon. smile.gif

Thanks for the reply. I know that the wiper motor is electric...will it fit on the other side of that metal area? How exactly does the motor attach to the two wiper arms?

And why do you say not to remove the charcoal canister? What does it do?

You can remove the charcol canister. It's there to absorb excess fuel vapors...

Also... i don't think you can relocate the wiper motor without losing wiper function. I believe it's mechanical...

I just went outside and had a look at my charcoal canister...turns out that one of the vacuum lines on the top is already disconnected...evidence of my mechanic's job doing the vacuum lines.

Thanks for the replies guys...the more advice the better while I'm still in the planning stage. smile.gif

Moving the wiper motor is possible, not that easy.

It is connected to a mechanical linkage with the wipers. The motor rotates in one direction only; actuating an arm that moves the linkage thus changing the rotary motion of the motor into a reciprocating motion that can be seen by the wipers. It would be possible to redesign the linkage system with the motor in another location, not an easy task, but you do have the skills. It really comes down to how important it is to relocate it.

its suggested that if you remove the charcoal cannister and plug the hose leading to it to drill a small hole in your fuel cap, this allows the pressure in the fuel system to bleed off (which is another function of the charcoal cannister system.
