5sfe cams......for a 5sfte

any info on head work would be good....i know the 5s head is an eco head
but im wanting to get the most out of it.....

272s give you a very rough idle so its not worth the cons if he still has the 5s head, 272s in a 3s head might be more productive and worth the consiquences.

the problem with web cam regrinds is that they've been designe for NA applications. Use in a turbo motor will probably hinder it performance. I don't know the specs on them, but I'm assuming there will be too much overlap. Something you may wanna look into before you start blowing wasting your money.

No, you can't. It's a completely different set up sadly. I asked that same question about a year ago. Honestly, all you have to do is look at the heads on each of them and you'll see there's not much chance in making it work.

I see that you've got a nice turbo set up, but your still wanting more power. When do you think that will end? Do you think getting a set of performance cams is going to satisfy you? Consider this, and the option of going with a 3s head. With the 2.2 liter block, and a 3s head, it's like a big bore 3s. You've got real room to grow with that.

Well i have decided today the im going to go all the way and build
a 5sgte.... with all the goodies..
The reason for this is that there are parts that i can get off the shelf for the GTE head...

i have had a head for quite some time now but didnt have the guts to do it..

if anybdy has tips or info on this ...i would be greatfull....

I will keep a step by step log as i do this project and am hoping to have it complete in the next few weeks......

Well here is a list of things i have on order for my 3s head.....

toda racing cams 272
toda cam gears
toda valve kit

cp forged pistons 8.5:1
forged rods....

there are a few other things in my list but i cant remember ....

cant wait till they all come.......

Adding the cooler didnt really change anything much.....
but having no cool sure made the boost come on real quick....

I had the cooler made and fitted for two week before the engine went boom, but for the two week it ran like a wild thing.....

i have a lot of hope for my 5sgte build...
predictions anybody on what ill have when its finnished..?????

Ok.. the rods im having custom made and should be here monday...
God its just been a waiting game at the moment.
The Bolck will come back on wednesday and the head (fingers crossed) will be here today.....

I have decided not to use a Dizzy and go with crank sencers and quad coils.
There are a few other little things i have planed but will let you guys know all in good time ......

As for HP output......is your guess....
WHAT DO YOU THINK IT WILL BE AT THE WHEELS....??

Presure...im still gonna run the same turbo....(ct26) but its high flowed to a t4
As for boost im gonna push this bitch as hard as i can go...

The ports on the head are huge now.....the valves have been cut back for flow....sooooooooo im looking for big HP...Bigger turbo mmmm yeah later as the cash flow is running low....im way over budget as it is....the head alone cost me $$$$ I dont know what the prices in the U.S are like but i can tell you the my back pocket hurts like hell.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

i vote silver for the block color or white, i just cant see blue looking good.

are you planning on completly tuning ign? like every 100 rpms its going to have a different ign.

also how small are your banks gonna be for tunning.

you won't have the first 5s-gte in a 6th gen period. Because there is a drag celi that's rear wheel drive - and it has a 5s-gte. But, you will have the first 5s-gte in a street driven celi (i think) biggrin.gif

I am sure what I saw It was a NDRA car PRO RWD class. I got a vid of it, the car ran 8:3.2 then broke somthing...


the biggest part in the 5sGTE is to get the crank to fit 3S rods only $350...

I know of the RWD celica drag car.....In the U.S.

to my knowledge... no one has completed a 5s-gte on this celica board.
I don't even know of another 5s-gte celica in the U.S. other than the RWD drag car
So i expect you would be the first 5s-gte on this celica forum..... congrats!

Thanks dro....your right its cost me a shead load of cash... I dont know what the prices in the U.S are like but ive almost spent 10g's

Little things like new water and oil pumps never seem to come into mine when your looking at pistons and rods....

Good luck on your journey to the world of 5sgte. Keep on it....

I will keep you guys updated on the progress as it happens...Its been a little slow the past few weeks due to the Xmas break....

looking good these hybrids take alot of work im just waiting on the new CP pistons to come in and reassemble fix the cam problem do some street tuning then break her in with 1500+ miles probably hit 3000 then go to the dyno

267? 272? You guys are slightly nuts. I'd never throw that agressive of a cam on a 5S unless you want to make max power at like 10,000rpms, which the block isn't designed to do at all.

I'd go with something milder like 9mm of lift and 235 duration. At least that's what I'm gonna shoot for in a few weeks. My friend does cam regrinds... I guess he'd know more about it than me.

i have an oil filter relocation kit...will post you a pick tonight..
with a lil luck ill have the motor and tranny in tomorrow...
ive been shopping about for the right kinda clutch..... ended up with a custom made brass button clutch and 700kg-ft/lb pressure plate....
will post that too...

Ok.. been busy today. I got the turbo mounted intercooler on and rad fitted....
im trying to find a place for the perma-cool oil cooler.... just having trouble as there is'nt much room.
The cooler is a 6 core 14"x5.5"x3" rated to 450hp....

Where can i put it...... tune in tomorrow....for mounting and pics..

god dam plenum......still not ready.

went to the tuner yesterday, been real busy (yeah right) so i told him to pull his finger out and get me in his shop.... So a date has been set....
Next thursday.... So by next weekend this Beast will be running.... and about time to...

Well guys im sorry to say its the same old thing.....waiting for the intake manifold... 9 weeks now....
I have been going crazy during this time and still have nothing......the guy doing the job just decided to close shop and not tell anyone.....

Is it just not ment to be.????

Well guys, yesterday was the day... My baby went tp the tuner. Its taken a year this week to get it as far as it is today. All custom work has been done (fingers crossed that is) so its just a few off the shelf parts now like MSD coil and leads and stuff like that... not alot........
