2 or 4 guage? What, are you running 4000W? Houses use smaller wiring than that.

i went in around the ecu harness then down the passenger side kick panel
oh and go with 4gauge, 2gauge is overkill and not worth it how hard it is to run the wires. anyone here run a true 0gauge? its horrible! i hate the stuff This post has been edited by celicast3sgte: Oct 3, 2005 - 8:07 PM -------------------- 94' ST Coupe - 5sfe Motor swap and brake swap.

theres lil rubber boot that has all the wires going into the passenger side
is that where you put it? if so did you cut the boot or made the hole bigger to fit the cable? |

4000W? http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp 4ga can, theoretically, take 150A... which is 1800W at 12V max, or, using the site, a little less than 1000W RMS. Its not THAT big a system. Most people will use 4ga, 4ga for many systems is more than enough. I used a rubber boot that was on the right hand side of the car (looking at th car from the front). Its the passenger side for me, so im not sure if your rubber boot would be on the other side? I just made a little slit with a knife, then stuck the cable through. sure enough it came out under the dash. Then just sealed up around the wire with some auto silicon. Considering the biggest wire in our cars is 4 Ga, kind of doesn't make sense to draw more than that off of just one battery and the stock alternator as the alternator to battery cable is only 4 Ga....hmmmm so you are drawing more power than your alternator can put back out in charging power. Doesn't make sense. If you actually NEED 2 Ga for your system then get a second battery and a high-output alternator too.
Oh and I drilled through where the clutch assembly normally goes through the firewall, but you obviously don't have that luxury. So try running it through the main wire harness grommet, and if not then you gotta drill. It's more fun to drill stuff anyways. Oh and one more thing, if you try to go through the grommet. Use the right tool! Get an abortion tool from a friend or if you already have one sweet. It's a screwdriver looking thing with two prongs on the end that are sharp and it's about a foot or so long. Goes right through, tape your wiring on there hella good, and pull back through....mmmmm it works so nice and has a funny name. I actually ran two 8 gauge power wires in through the rubber boot around the steering shaft by the suggestion of a member on here.
Turned out great both times, you just need to use your brain and keep the wires zip tied away from any moving parts....obviously. ![]() -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

since you cut the boot doesnt that mean moisture is gonna get in?
or since you used an auto silicon that prevents it? |

Why quote me lol I said if you run 2 or 0 gauge it's only necessary if you have the exact setup I named which is what you said you have. lol. People are so funny smetimes.
