I would love to swap a 3S into my car, however the drive, then downtime of not having a vehicle this close to winter would be a pain, however I will possibly consider....

anytime you do anything custom to car (swap, turbo kit, charger, etc) your going to have downtime and some type of headaches from it.

for 2600 $ you can get a factory turbo 3sgte clip shipped to your door

-I HAD the same kit....
I do not recommend it!!!
fitment is not very good, poor quality parts, prostreet has the worst customer service!!

If you are ging to boost your 7AFE take my advice and the advice I should have taken the first time from alot of people on hereBUILD YOUR OWN KIT

Take it from someone who has done both-If you build your own kit you can get better setup for cheaper than the kit.

Alsoi if you buy the kit you will have to make your own mounts for the inter cooler and make your own intercooler piping since it is made for the corolla, and the wastegate hit my slave cylinder on my transmission-so you have to modify that.

I didn't think that the kit was worth it and have only seen 2 or 3 6gc's with that kit and have seen ALOT WITH CUSTOM KITS

As for the customer service of prostreet I sent back productstill waiting for my refund 3 months after them recieving the kit- and should be here sometime this week. Now I just buy all my products from fast-turbo.com(1-888-887-2658 if you call talk to stan tell him daniel from odessa told you to call)
I have gotten all my parts here other than jgs flange and ssautochrome turbo manifold.
he has the best prices!!!

4 weeks for a swap??? confused.gif Yeah maybe for a lazy bastard. A speed shop near me does swaps within 1 weekend. Drop it off on Friday and get it back by Sunday. If I were you I would take my car to people that know what thier doing.
Anyway you should do a 4agze swap. It would be different and cool. Think about it wink.gif

i dont think you guys really know what you are getting into when you decide to turbo or swap your car.

everyone thinks "i had my mechanic swap new tires on the car and this tubo install will go just as smooth and reliable as the tire job did! " its just not like that in the real world. also, why would you ever want any "speed shop" to install a turbo for you? your the one that is going to have to live with it and deal with any issues that pop up along the way. not to mention that most of these shops dont know jack about how to turbo a celica.

Well, for a while i've wanted a solution to my slow POS car, and I have a guy living in a neighboring town that knows everything about this stuff that could help me out...so either I :

A.) Give it all up, sell the car, take my loan and my money from the car and buy a new car and be in debt for the rest of my life.

B.) Rebuild the 7AFE, find a decent turbo kit and rig it so that it works.

C.) Suck it up and buy a 3SGTE clip and somehow have a miracle and install the thing.

D.) Rebuild, Get Nitrous

E.) Buy someone elses turbo'd car.....

No matter what its going to be a pain in the ass so whatever happens, happens i guess.

Oh I thought he went to a shop and they told him that it would take 4 weeks. Oh course it would take like 4 weeks if you work and then work on the swap in your spare time. My fault everyone.

Great post. smile.gif

Thanks for the plug. One of these days I'm really hoping to go fulltime and then the swap will take MUCH LESS TIME. smile.gif

As for what choice you should make, it really depends on what you want. In general, an engine swap is more reliable than turboing a non-turbo engine, since the swap is actually a stock engine (from another car). In general, turboing a stock engine is cheaper. I would not recommend A, D, or E.

I have also heard nothing but bad about those kits. Be careful, as several companies market the same one under a different name. You can tell it's the same kit because they use the term "extreme" on them. I see they have since dropped the lower kit with no intercooler, they had a term for that one too but I can't remember it right now.

On that note, I am planning on developing a turbo kit for both the 5th gen and 6th gen Celicas in the very near future. If you want to help me develop the kit then I'll give it to you for cost, it will be around $2200 and will take about the same amount of time as the swap would. It will be a very solid, reliable kit with a lot of R&D put into it to make sure it's right.

Actually would be pretty badass, but are you developing a kit and then selling it or would you need the vehicle down there and you put it on?
