After considering many options, and probably changing my mind at least 10 times, I have come to a final decision of getting the supercharger. It's expensive, but I think it will be just as nice as a swap.

The reason I have considered this is because not too long ago I threw a rod, and had to get my engine rebuilt. It's basically brand new, and I wouldn't see a point in swapping in another engine after just spending $$$ getting the one I have now rebuilt.

The supercharger is a considerable amount of money, but I don't think anyone on here has it yet? I did a search and found one member with a custom one? But he/she has never even posted on here. And there is no pictures of the set up.

What does everyone think? I guess I'm just after opinions or support.. or whatever you would like to give me.

Nonetheless I'm excited about my decision. smile.gif

Go for it, it should be easier than a swap or custom turbo. They take the guess work out of it by selling and intire kit. You've got room to grow ontop of what it's suposed to give you. I'd love to see this. I'm behind it 100%, especailly with a rebiuld engine.

its the best tuned and most thought out package for making power out of the 5sfe. a lot safer then any turbo kit. so if you really dont want a 3s, this would be the next best thing for making power out of your 5sfe.

i talked to a guy not too long ago with a RIPP SC on his Stratus R/T.
400+ with a 100 shot of nitrous i believe.
although he had a fully built engine.
he was from somewhere south. He saw us all parked hanging out and stopped to show us.
Had RIPP all over his car.
lol

He told if i ever wanted to get one talk to him and he might be able to get me the hookup on a SC.

I am also saving money for the SC kit from Ripp mods. Its a really great kit, very complete, and it would give the kind of response and low stress (compared to a turbo) that i am looking for. I would love to see another member get it first. I was hoping that Mac would get his and i could as questions, but if you get it Jen, make sure to let me know how it works out!!

What sort of time frame are you looking at to get one?

go for it! werent you thinking of selling the celi? nothing like the sound of a vortech supercharger under the hood. on their site, when i click on celica, it says there is no current available products, i wonder how hard it would be to modify the kits for camry, solara, or mr2 to fit.

I too also am thinking about supercharging my 5s. Might be expensive, but not as many hastles as a turbo and more realiable. Hope it works out good so that I can try it myself.

Ripps is the way to go, and his camry package should adapt without any major headaches to your motor

It shouldn't matter if you have stronger internals than stock, the 8-10 psi of the supercharger shouldnt be too hard on internals.

I would say that its a good route to go for somebody with a 5SFE thats got low mileage or a recent rebuild, especially since you'll have factory support from a company who has done very well amongst other commuities, which is an advantage over a swap or custom turbo setup.

I'm almost positive that they start you with 8psi in the kit with an option of a pulley upgrade which brings things to about 10 psi.

Anybody feel free to correct me, but I believe thats what I remember their site saying last time I checked.

i think the package comes with a pulley that gives you 9-11 psi, but if you talk to them you can get a lesser or bigger pulley to run either below 8 psi or above 12

Somebody has to do it....right now. If my ancient motor wouldnt need replacing by doing such an upgrade then I would have done it long before now.
By far the best option for the 5SFE, I think...so do it. Its money well spent for a very worthy upgrade that will be reliable as well as backed by a reputable company. wink.gif

PS- I'm almost taking my own advice and seriously considering doing this myself...
