if a car wobbles a bit at low speeds is it just as simple as getting an alignment?

i had a car inspected and the mech says it wobbles a bit @ low speeds and he recommends that all it is is that it requires an alignment and 2 new front tires...

is this normally the case or could there be a more expensive problem i'd have to deal with?

i'm not sure.. i'm assuming the front wobbles since they are recommending 2 new front tires and alignment

yeah it could be your bareings, ball joint. You wont notice the wheels being off balance until higherspeeds, and the alignment wont make wobble as much as just uneven ware, and pulls to one side.

i guess i'll ask why mech thinks it's tires/alignment instead of other things

High speeds slow speeds? brakeing driving cruising? If its higher speeds, it could be simple as the wheel balance. It its just driving all the time, it could be the wheel baring or the ball joint.

One thing, pop it on a jack, so the front wheels are i the air. See if they wobble in any direction.Like hold top and bottom. If it wobbles, then its the wheel barings or the ball joint. ( thats what im dealing with now, Il know by thursday if the ball joint fixs it.)

then grab the left and right side, if it wobbles then its the tierods.

If it dosnt wobble eioather way, its your wheel balance, your suspension warn or a messed up wheel or tire.

If it wobbles or shakes when braking it could be your pads or a warped rotor. That would only be braking though.

My car is in need of an alightment so badly.

If I let go of the wheel on the freeway, it will execute a beautiful 30 degree turn.

While driving at slow speeds across LA straights, the wheel moves back and forth like it was lubed for a hot date.

My roommate was like: #&@(#&(*@#

set your car to neutral, jack up your car, put it on all four jack stands and by hand rotate all the wheels. IF any seems to wobble you got a dented rim, or a bad bearing. Could be tie rods too.
