My car has always done this since the day I bought it.
Ive read lots of post but none are exactly like my problem.
Anyways, my car shakes when Im at a stop. When i turn my car on its fine but as soon as i put in reverse or drive it starts shaking. whenever im at a light i put it in nutral and the shaking stops ( i have to do this so it doesnt shake ) but as soon as i start driving it goes away.
i thought it might be idaling to low at around 700-800 rpms and even bought a throttle positioning sensor but no difference.

p.s. it usually shakes more in reverse than drive, also i already tried adjusting the throttle cable.......please help frown.gif

First of all, I was lookin at yer profile, and DAMN!! That is a nice blue, much props to ya bro. As for your shaking problem, you could have some transmission problem or some problem related to your transmission.

How hard does it shake?

If it is just vibration that is normal for an auto, my car used to do that too. If its alot its probably an engine mount.

if u want a really cheap and easy fix... clean those mouts really well..soap, water, brake parts cleanrer. then buy some PLurethane in a tube and shoot it in there with a caulk gun. then let the car sit for about 4 days. the stuff cost about 4$ in any hardware store.

I used to get it because when it was in Drive and I had the brakes on such as at a stop light waiting...the idle would be down lower than it would be if I were in Neutral/Park, or Reverse at the stop light. I have no idea why, but I had no issues and my motor mounts were solid.

Yeah, I checked when i was at a stop and my RPMs stay the same in drive nutral and reverse. I did look like and ass though stopping on my street and switching back and forth, lol. But i did notice that the car feels like it jumps foward when I go from nutral to drive. stupid celica, always has a problem, but how can you get mad at her, just look at those lights tongue.gif biggrin.gif

the 5sfe is a shakey engine to begin with! They even vibrate alot with good motor mounts. I know in camry's, later year models have redesigned and added motor mounts for the problem.

^ I have the 7a ;-) and after some crawling around under the car and having Manny & Erik both look at the rear mount while i went from Nutral to Drive we found out it was the rear mount. So i order one today. The shaking isn't THAT bad, but i don't want to leave my mount if it's bad and end up with a problem later on. so it's all good. smile.gif
