i have the real hks and i run it vented, so i get the sound and everything. the problem with running it vented is that youll sometimes bog down just a bit between shifs. i mostly notice it on part throttle shifts, if that makes sense. its not a huge problem tho, and ive been running it that way for over a year now.

the hks, or fake hks is probably the most responsive bov u can buy.

I think the SSQV is just a bit too expensive considering that it CAN look ugly after some time. I've seen it on a Supra MA70 I think and there were traces of oxidation.
But I bought one anyway because I'm convinced of the twin valve concept, because it looks nice and because I don't like cheap copies / fakes. wink.gif

i might believe like maybe if your lucky you'll get a good one but chances is that youll get a defective actually i believe super street just did an article on this! and they explain how some people have gotten blow off valves that wont open and blew someones motor. and others whos open up too much and let boost out excessively .........so yes you might get a working one like players but dont be surprised to find a messed up valve.

lol, there is no way that a defective bov can blow your motor!

wow BOVs that dont open can blow peoples' motors?!? confused.gif lol nah i doubt this. the only thing that'll happen if the valve doesnt open is that u'll get some turbo killing surge and that in turn will rip apart the compressor blades (assuming the force is great enough to do so)...and if the shrapnel enters the motor then boom! ... wait so i guess crappy BOVs can blow engines! lol only if this situation happens tho smile.gif

im guessing this is what happened in the article you are speaking off

Roel listen to your boy ... DON"T get the knockoff..... trust me when i tell you don't get it..... its not the same thing as the originaly ... on the outside it looks the same on the inside its like night and day .... the knock off's are cheap for a reason .. cause the internals just don't have the same performance as the real thing... you can get luck and have one that works fine with no problem .. but the damage that you can get from a knockoff (with no company warranty) is not worth it..... Get the real thing .. it will save you alot more money in the long run.... and come by my house and i'll show you some pics of what a ebay BOV can lead to.

edit;;;; didn't see your post on you getting a real one .. so never mind.... call me up when you get it installed..

Since the stock 3SGTE on the alltrac (the engine you have) doesn't have a BPV, and the worst thing that a BOV can do is not open, then you don't have much to worry about.

That said, the knockoff is not the same level of quality as the real thing. I'm glad you got the real one.

By the way, you'll still hear it a little bit even with it routed back into the intake. smile.gif

yah i been thinking of this for awhile. the alltracs got no bpv but the mr2t with the same engine does. im thinking it has something to do with the alltrac being tmic and the mr2t being smic (which will have longer piping). maybe the turbo surge is worse with longer piping, smic and fmic, than with short tmic piping. cuz ive gotten rides on alltracs with no bpv and i dont hear the same surge on their car as oppose to my car when boosting. and yah im damn glad i got to buy a real brand new HKS SSQV..which should be coming in a day or 2!!! biggrin.gif

I was reading Modified Mag tonight and they actually had a whole section on knockoff parts comparing them to the real thing. They even talked about the knockoff SSQV, and gave PLENTY of reasons not to use it after inspecting both pieces carefully. The key components just aren' built the same.

I would always stick to the real thing with our cars....chances are its usually a much better product and less harmful to your engine in some cases, and if anything goes wrong there is usually a warranty on a name brand product or at least good factory support. Can't say the same for a knockoff.

Good choice Bboy. wink.gif BTW, Can't wait to see the car sometime!

where do the rest of u 3SGTE guys run the little vac hose on the back of the BOV? and anyone with the recirculation fitting? does the hose HAVE to be 1 inch diameter (recirculation adapter is 1 inch) cuz i dont think i wunna drill a 1 inch hole in my intake

Tee off from the map sensor for the vac line

yeah the recirc adaptor is ment for you to hook up a 1in rubber hose to it and then somehow run it to the intake piping. i have the recirc adaptor on my bov, but its not running to the intake piping, yet.

you cant just drill a hole. you need to have a short pipe welded on there so that you can fit a 1in hose over it. remember all that stuff has to be air tight. your car will not run right there is even a small air leak there.

for mine, i was going to buy a straight intake pipe and weld all the connections on there that i need.

another option is to use the intake piping from an mr2turbo. that has all the connections for recirculating the bov and the 2 pcv lines. i tired that, but it wouldnt really work right for me because my ic piping gets in the way

Word. Of course your piping is aluminum, which most people can weld. That said, if you're on a budget, you can get yourself a 1" tube, cut it down, drill a 1" hole in the intake, put the tube in there, and JB Weld it in place. (Yes, I said JB Weld). Or use epoxy. It will hold fine, be airtight, and since the hose will be over it anyway, it won't show.
