ok whenever i am driving while the engine is still cold and im in first and make a turn i hear this weird clunking type of sound while i am turning but when the turn is straightened i dont hear it so i know it only happens when im turning and im usually in first or second gear. What Do u think the problem is.
(the sound sounds likes rock clanking around but timed untill i straight the wheel out)

Your cv joints are going.

This is where the axle goes into the wheel itself.

Contact your Toyota Dealer for replacement axles

damn how much do think that is going to cost me? is it even worth it the car already has 153k+ miles on it.

How much longer do u think the car can hold up for its been over 2 weeks now?

but i wouldnt say that they are going to hold up much longer either


i wouldnt push it because you could be driving down the highway and snap there goes Crzybakerdog down into the ditch.

I have seen it happen at low speed.

If I were you, I would call up any part store and get it.

If not, take it to a toyota dealer or some other store like Pep Boys

If it's already making the noise, the axle is most likely already contaminated (when the boot tears, dirt and stuff gets inside and rips up the axle) and you'll need to replace the axle. I've gone through 3 of them. While it's a bitch to replace them yourself w/o a rack, they're also not so expensive as you might think. One side shouldn't cost you more than $150, parts and labor.

ok i found out it isnt the cv joints but the driveshaft instead so its gonna cost a little more not sure how much but would like some guestimates from anyone who has had to get their's replaced confused.gif damn crappy ass roads that i live by.

now that i think about it i think i was wrong i believe it was the drive train but either way its not the cv joints and its gonna cost me some mula to get that fixed. props to wilkys for fixing it.
