Hello guys!

What are the latest years turbo MR2's are available in Japan? I'm pretty sure it is 95' in the US, and 99' in Japan.. But I'm not sure.

Someone in here have great knowledge about this, but I don't remember who.

The JDM turbo MR2 (mk2) have the 3S-GTE engine and 245ps (220-230 hp) to my knowledge, and because they are sold after they stopped selling them in the US, they probably have better milage and condition.

A 99' car is today almost 7 years old, and should be really cheap, but everything I can find here in Norway is regular GT's with the 3S-GE engine, and a few GTS with the 2.2 litre 5S-FE engine (and I don't want that.. tongue.gif )

MR2s dont abide by the regular rules of price. 91 Turbo's in the states can go for 7-10K.

Luckily I'm not talking about the States smile.gif I'm talking about Asia. Since they don't sell any MR2's in the States after the 95'..

I'm importing one from Japan. I just had to make sure about the years, and it seems I was correct. Atleast if we are to belive what jgreening just said (and I see no reason why we shouldn't, as he is a very wise person).

The new Audi is just too "grown up".. Everyone seems to think I'm driving around in my dads car. And that's not very cool.. (I'm not, but that doesn't change what people think when they see me).

So, getting a pure summer car (Turbo MR2 (mk2)) should help change that. And it's a very decent looking car that's alot of fun to drive. It's powered by one of the best, if not the best, 4 cylinder turbo engines ever.. Atleast from Toyota. Combined with the no roof option and rearwheel drive.. Stunning! smile.gif

Time to start contacting Asian car import businesses..

Thanks alot jgreening!

I'm in the market for an MR2 also, just harder to find here in the States. I want one with t-tops for a summer car, it'll be awesome. Good luck finding one!

I don't know where you are all looking.. there are a handfull of MR-2's between 91-93 Turbo in the NW for 3-5K. Granted, they all have like 175K, but you can get the MR2 for 3.5, a new 3S and tranny for around 1.7K and there you have a good-as-new MR2 for 5200 bucks. Makes me want to sell my Celi and pick it up.

get the 93+ mr2s they come with lsd and has more hp and much better suspension and brakes.

get the 94+ model because athe tail lights are nicer and the frond end is a bit difference you won't notice until you actually own one.

LSD was an option in 93+ MR2's.

The front end changed in 93 too.

The 94+ tail lights are nicer but the 91-93 wing is better IMO.

The suspension was improved in 93 as well.

The brakes in the turbo model were improved in 93.

wow I wish I could find a turbo for that price. There's a 91 turbo for sale in town here for $4000 but it's a piece of crap and needs a lot of work. Otherwise there's nothin. I found an NA car that needs engine work for $500 in alabama, which would be good for me bc I'm putting a 1mzfe in anyways but still. They're hard to find and expensive once you find one.

and by improved Jay means they helped prevent the car from spinning out. i believe some stiff prefer the pre-change suspension :-\
