So, I just came back from seeing the new king kong movie with my beautiful girlfriend and it has confirmed my previous ambition to own a small primate. Now, after I post this, I will search the net on the possibilities of purchasing a monkey.

Does anyone own a pet monkey? I was wondering about the negative and positive aspects of caring for a small monkey of some sort. Please post your monkey experiences and ideas on the topic of owning an animal such as a chimpanze(sp?). What are the fun things about them? What things about them make a pain in the ass? If you don't think owning a monkey is a good idea, feel free to post alternative exotic animals that would be fun.

I don't think it would be legal to keep a monkey in a house.

In Missouri, there is no requirement for owning a monkey.

Any guy here would love to have a monkey, a pet monkey. And people get mad, sometimes you say “Oh I’d love to have a monkey!” and there is always that one anti monkey person in the area they over hear you … “Excuse me I heard you said you’d like to have a monkey that’s a horrible idea, you do not want a monkey, you DO NOT want a monkey." They’re a monkey expert, and they start listing all the reasons why you can have a monkey. “Lemme tell you a few things.. If I could just have a minute…Can I just explain a few things about monkeys maybe you don’t know before you jump to your conclusion, Okay It’s more then just bananas and dancing with toothbrushes. First of all the crap in their own hand and they throw it around in a festive manner… like their in a celebration of monkey poop and they make faces that are unacceptable in society…” I hear these things and that’s why I want a monkey all those reasons. I don’t want a nice little quiet monkey. I want an evil monkey that I can dress in armor, give him a sword and have fights with him inside my place. How pumped would you be driving home from work knowing some place in your house there’s a monkey you’re going to battle? That’s awesome!

ummm they are like babies and you have to be REALLY REALLLY REALLLLY careful with them....

#1) monkeys BITE and do massive damage when they do, you can not let someone just randomly pet your monkey or get near it...leash 24/7 and control 24/7 cause your monkey bites/hits/scratches someone your ass is in for a lawsuit

#2) the have to wear a diaper....changing diapers sound fun?

just a few thoughts

Jay Leno was the guest on Conan Obrien's show one night & Jay was telling him how he had a monkey in a tea-cup once when he was little. He had sent away for it in the mail from a comic book ad. He said it came in the mail in this tiny box w/ air holes & when he opened the box this tiny little thing JUMPED out of the box & was running all over the place. It stopped long enough for him to see that it looked like a little old wrinkled man HAHAHA...Then the dog came after it...chased it out the back door & he never saw it again....WEIRD!

My aunts exboyfriend before she got married used to have a monkey named Gizmo. He (the monkey) took my popsickle when I was little. laugh.gif It is illegal in some states to own a pet monkey, and in some states it depends on what kind you want. You'd more than likly need to get it registered somewhere, regardless of the state you live in. Do a lot of research before you start looking around for one. They're a lot of work to take care of, and need a lot of attention. The positive side is that they eat a lot of the same food humans eat. Make sure a vet around you would be able to help you if it gets sick, etc. Do lots of research and talk the people at a pet store that has monkeys for sale. Good luck

i live in stl, and one time when i was walking up to a chinese restaurant, a van pulled up with monkeys painted on it. a few seconds later, a lady comes out with like 3 monkeys on leashes just walking around in public. there were more monkeys in the van. it was definitly the first time i saw someone taking a monkey out. but anyway, i heard monkeys are a pain in the ass. my uncle got a monkey while he was in the army, and he hated it. at first he liked it cause he had a monkey, but it went downhill from there. i couldnt help but quote this:

I hate monkeys...I would love to kill one with my bare hands. Now, I heard that chimpanzees are stronger than humans so you WILL NOT beat one in a fight. It will beat your ass and you will have to live your life knowing that a monkey around the same size as you beat you silly. =p
