Can Somone explain to me what the difference from the 3s-gte short and long block is? Are they different types of engines? Plus the Beams has a 3s-gte out correct? What difference have they made on it?

Short block means everything in the bottom end less the head. From the deck of the block to the oil pan.
Long block means from the valve covers to the oil pan and all the timing belt related items.
as for the beams its a 3sge. no turbo.

Why do people go with the beams if it has no turbo? Only thing I can think of is that the mr2 3sgte is hard to find?

People go Beams because its one of the best NA motor
toyota ever produce. They're very rare and expensive.
They are very good for NA, 200 Horsepower stock.
And they look beautiful biggrin.gif

Just because it doesnt have a Turbo doesnt mean its crap.
There are alot of advantages for goin NA over turbo, for
example turbo motors need more maintainance than
NA motors.

the 5GC has a 3sgte - The Beams engine was an option for 6GC (not in the US) and i believe the Caldina came with a 3SGTE as well.

all with different generations of 3sgte's ... someone much smarter than i would have to explain these "generations"

5GC being the Alltrac smile.gif

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.

Beams engine is not easy to find I maybe think is one of the more difficult toyota engine to find. the 3sgte 2nd and 3rd gen is very more easy to find
