I got mine because my uncle use to have one, and i loved the way it looked...back then i assumed it was fast, so i wanted it even more... So when i turned 17 i decided i wanted one, so i went to a few auctions and finally found one... I paid 3100 and it had 120k miles on. Clean title, and the guys that i went to the auction with put in a new radiator and new head gaskets and some other engine stuff i cant think of right now.

Me and my dad were out looking for a car for me (my first car). We stumbled across is at a used parking lot, looked at it and wasn't really that impressed at first (since it was all dirtied up and had some scratches/dents). Then we took it for a test drive and was amazed at how great condition it was in for having 129k miles on it. So it was a steal, we got it for only $3000. Now I'm really happy that I have a nice first car that's unique (even though it's not the fastest out there, it still looks damn good biggrin.gif ).

I was on the way to Gilroy to buy a '93 GT with 60k miles and I stopped at a Mitsu dealer in San Jose to listen to the engine on a 6th gen with 100k on it. I only did that because I wanted to make sure the 5th gen one sounded normal. In my mind I already told myself there was no way I'd buy a car with that many miles, but when I saw it and drove it, I was hooked. '94 purchased in the spring of '99 for 9800 plus 500 for an extended warranty. I was in college so I couldn't afford to pay for repairs if anything went wrong. That was money I shouldn't have spent considering how reliable this car has been for me!

it was the summer of 01. i was looking for something newer then my 93 probe gt.
i was actually on my way to buy a lifted 98 ram 4x4. awesome truck. i went back to get it and they had sold it. after i told them the day before i was gonna get it.
i was depressed so i went looking around the lots. went to look at a PT cruiser for my mom and saw a lil red 99 celica gt sitting next to it.
they wanted $17500 for it. it was in my price range. i took it for a spin on the highway, came back and told them i would think about it. i called them back that night and told them to keep it for me till tomorrow evening when i got off work.
i went back the next day and since i use to work there and the manager remembered me he let me have it for $16k OTD with 20k miles on her.

Why? because at the time, it was the car of my dreams and wanted to get my hands on one. I looked for a good deal on one 4 half a year. I eventually lucked out and found one only 30 miles away. Paid $5,600 for it. Only one previous owner with 92k original miles. I frickin' love the car!

i was rocking a 95 taurus that my mom bought and since we had 2 cars, i used that. one day the berings went at 55k . we didnt want to put any money into fixing it, so my mom traded the car in when she was buying something new for herself.

so now it was time for me to buy a new car. original plan was to get a new 7th gen. after coming very close to buying one, i changed my mind becasue the price was far more then what i wanted to pay.

i noticed the 6th gen and realize that i liked the look of that car, far more then the 7th gens. i looked around for a few, almost bought an automatic gt, and almost bought a maual ST. then one day i found the 98 with 30k on the clock. talked them down to 13.5 . the car looked and felt brand new. it was very well taken care of.

I'm pretty sure I've answered this question before.
But yes it was my dream car when I was young (16).
I've also admired the way it looks.
Wasn't until jan 2004 that my dream came true.
Now I want a GT-4, but I am still keeping this beauty biggrin.gif

ok get this...i live in ajax, ontario and i havnt really seen many 6gc's around before. i started my search on the net and after about 3 months of searching i found one in hamilton, the owner was actually only selling it because he was buying a 96 gts off of his DAD lol....i wouldnt blame him it was a higer model and 5 speed.....but hey im not complaining. the cool part is that he actually drove from hamilton down to toronto to give me the car and he drove back with his wife. the crapy thing is that of all the 6gc's that i found in those 3 months were all in really bad condition..i mean they were all either really overpriced or were just really poorly taken care of, i got lucky with this one though, the 2 previous owners were 2 brothers so i had 100% of the cars records, no rust or body damage, i got it at about 210 000km for 5000 CAN

I bought my first celica in 1999. It's a 87 gt coupe, with the 3sfe motor. Then I started to research the 3sgte motor and which cars could recieve the motor. I found out that my 87 could fit the motor but would need a good amount of modification. I started saving for everything I would need. Well at about 5k saved I blew the 3sfe. I was in need of a car bad so I went looking. The last car I looked at that day was a '95 Celica GT convertible. The two rear windows were messed up on it so I was not really into it that much. Until I started the engine and took it for a drive(i like that low end torque). So I bought it(5k 100kmiles), found out the 3sgte transplant would be much easier on it.

My mom had owned Celicas in the past, a brown 70's coupe and a yellow 80's hatchback, and so when my GTi died on me, I went looking for a Celica. I got on Autotrader and found mine the morning of it being posted. My dad went and looked at it, and told me that "He doesn't have the money right now". later that day he pulled into the driveway with it. $5900 with 81K on the clock, cheap for a 6th gen in Washington. Love it. I am waiting for my tax money to come back to me, then coilovers and sway bars.

Had my '94 GT4 WRC for a year or so, paid £5,100 with 34,000 miles on it, the previous owner had spent £3,000 on it in the last year fitting a bigger turbo etc.
I bought it because I had owned Lancia Delta Integrales in the past and knew 4WD+Horsepower=Fun and when I saw the condition the GT4 was in, it would have been a crime not to buy such a beautiful car in such good condition for such a low low price.

Last March. Had been looking at a 7th gen because I wanted a reliable Japanese car, stick shift and kinda sporty, but went with a 6th gen due to money issues. Though after I got this one repaired I could have had a 7th gen. Never mind. She's beautiful, and I hope that she lasts. And, $7300 for a 95 vert with 87k miles. Not a bad deal.

It looked nice and I wanted something that was seen rare driven around. So, after working with my uncle repairing a motel. I was paid 2.5K and with a little help from my parents I bought the Celi for 4.5K. Soon after a month the celi broke down so I went and swapped in a 4age and here I am today. Although the Celi is rare, it is also underpowered.

I wanted a convertible with some power and a back seat for under 20K. After realizing that my options were mustangs, or camaros/firebirds, or old beamer's, I started to think about buying a slower car and swapping engines. I briefly considered a DSM but then decided on a 6gc. I did some research and determined that I wanted either a 98 or 99 due to the convertible motors and then spent several months looking for a nice black 98 or 99 with manual. I bought my car from a dealer in Madison, WI (about 4 hour drive) for $9100 in February 04. She is very close to complete. As for my initial price range, well, I didn't quite make it but it has been fun.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I bought my car because i wanted to buy a stock import and make it how i wanted it. Well i seen the celica in 01 when i was 16 and really wanted the car, They wanted $12,500 for the car, It only have 7,000 miles on her. Well i didn't have a job so my brother bought it. GRR pissed me off, well then towards the end of 04 my brother lost his job and couldn't afford the loan, so i took it over for $6,000 and since then she's been running good, and looking better and better every year smile.gif

This is my first car. I bought from an old lady who had 110k on it. bought it for 5k. My first pick was an mr2 but my folk didn;t like it because of the space and compact of the car. Looking througth the newspaper and internet, i came upon 94 celica gt manual and test it like three time to make up my mind. this car is very reliable and haven't had an major problem with it. have it since 2001

I was looking at Audi A-4s after giving up on a 6gc, most were all high miles
or trashed if I could even find one. There was one on the lot at the audi dealers
$9700.00 with 50,000 miles in June of 2003. I prolly wouldn't have been looking
for any car if my spoiled brat rich exgirlfriend hadn't thought my truck was so Redneck.
Thanks spoiled brat rich exgirlfriend. laugh.gif

I got mine because my old MKIII supra crapped out on me, and as i was parking it/puttin it up for sale at my grandparents place, their neighbour across the street had his/my celi for sale. Checked it out, liked it, borowed some $ from my dad, bought her and never looked back. I had $2500 saved up for swapin a turbo motor into the supra and converting it to 5 speed, but there was 2 much work other wise. So i borowed $2000 from my dad and bought my celi, and every thing from there on has been done with my $. Oh and paid dad back the $2000. So in other words, for a 94 GTS, 124xxxkm on it, 5 speed, 64 year old ownr from the time it was new, not abused what so ever with 2 minor spots of dmg $4500 with taxes and all the fees and stuff that goes along with buyin a car.

He tried to talk me towards GO rather than SHOW but i was like hmm how bout a 96 supra and he was like haha right. so i found the celica and begged and begged and we looked for close to a year and i had just about given up cuz he found something wrong with every single one i wanted but then he looked at the one i have now and was like "natalie this one is too nice. probably too nice for you to have and its a stick" and i was like "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE" then i got it as a graduation/bday gift. Paid for all that day!

Bought my celi about 3 years ago. It had done 136000 km. There was another celi in shop there which was much cheaper, but it was an st with 116bhp. Mine is the gt with 175bhp. It also has the fenomenal super strut suspension, so the choice was not too difficult!!! I paid 10000 euro's for it(about $9000)

i fell in love with the 6th gen when i was 14 and i knew i wanted one. i looked around and then i seen one that looked for sale at the mitsubishi dealership. they wanted 5200 for it. it was a trade in and about to go up for auction. my dad talked the guy down to 2600 taxes paid and all. i gave him cash in his hand. i had the car close to a year before i got my liscense- july of 04. had 112k miles.

My dad bought the celica in 94 he wanted a nice little sport car because we were leaving the states to move to greece
i loved that car the minute i laid my eyes on her and the day i turned 18 he came in my room threw me the keys and told me '' it's your's but if you break it i'll kick you out of my house''

the thing that pissed me of when my mom told me that my dad was looking at the 94 supra and she told him that it was to fast for a family man

thanks mom #@#$#@$#@

Well first my 90' supra turned wheels up on me (bhg), so for a while I was driving a 90' Mazda 626. My 97' celica was originally my mothers and she also loves celicas. She called me one day and mentioned she wanted to trade in the car for a 7th gen. I told her I wanted the 6th gen so we worked it out and I payed mom what the dealership was going to give her on trade in. $1500 later I own my 6th gen (and mom later got her 01' silver 7th gen gt)

Got my 99 GT because I needed an ecinomical daily driver. My 89 ST celica had just gone tits up at 190K miles, so I figured, heck, why not another Celi, and my wife and I both liked how the 6GC looked. After a month of searching, finally found the 99 on eBay for buy it now for $7500 with 114K miles back in early July 2005. It's got 124K miles now and just ticking through them like there's no tomorrow.

Since I moved to Washington I've been riding a motorcycle for road trips up to Vancouver to see my Granddad. The winters here aren't nearly as good for riding as where I moved from, Kentucky, so I decided I should get a car for this winter. I've always liked the 6th generation Celicas, I didn't want a family car. I narrowed it down to black and it had to be a GT.

I finally found one last fall with 140,000 for $4700. I had been looking for about six months before mine came up on Auto trader. I wasn't really looking for all the options mine came with but I really like the leather and 8 speaker stereo. The sunroof is nice too.

Two days after I bought it my Granddad decided to give up his drivers license and sell his car. Just to think that I could have ended up with an '88 Thunderbird makes me shudder.

I got mine originally because of the great styling and awesome gas mileage. I bought her over 3 years ago, and with 103K for $6000. She was in perfect shape when I got her, no door dings, nothing. The only problem I remember is one cigarette burn on the rear seat, but besides that, you can't tell it had been smoked in before I had it. No intentions of selling, and she still runs perfect.

i looked for a 6gc for the longest time, never could find one... dad raised me on toyotas, he had a camry, mom had a lexus, so i got a camry, then when that finally conked out on me, i got a 5th gen, and when i dinged that up and didnt feel safe driving it anywhere anymore, i searched months for a 6gc, finally found one 2 hours from my house, paid 8000, it was a 94 gt 60K miles, everything was new, clutch was just replaced, i loved that car so much :-(

I was tired of my automatic 1986 Monte Carlo and wanted a 5 speed car that was sporty that I could modify... I had several on my list... but when I found this... I got it that day :-) I paid 7000 with 109,000 miles. Spotless engine and super clean interior... Car has had no problems until the day after christmas. (3 years)

I was in the market for a celica all along. I got hooked on them when looking around for my first car. I was looking for a 7th gen, but I went to carmax and they had a 6th gen with 36k miles on it for 11 G's. Shipped it to me for $150, which was applied to the purchase price, and the rest is history. All leather interior, sunroof, CD player, I love this car.

I got my first one my junior year of high school (2001-2002), it was a 94 ST with 43,000 miles on it, picked it up for $7200. Loved the looks, the way it drove, everything about it. A year and 15,000 miles later it was hit by a drunk driver (I was stopped at a red light, he hit us from behind doin like 60, pushed us out in the intersection, etc. Car was GONE). Got about $9000 from insurance and couldn't find another Celica, so I bought a Mustang. Sold the Mustang, bought a Prelude in summer 2003, hated it, sold it in March of 2005 and just by luck found my Celica within the same day.

1994 GT, bought with 117,000 miles for $4300. Some say the price was high, some say it was low, either way I love the car and think it was a great buy.

Celicas are one of the few cars I've driven that I feel "in tune" with, like I know exactly what the car is doing, going to do, where it's going, etc. It's that kind of driving experience that has kept me hooked
