Recently my front right suspension has been making noise. It sounds like a poping banging sound like something is loose. It makes this noise under certain braking, hard shifting and over bumps. I guess whenever there is the right weight transfer it makes the noise. I was wondering if it is the CV joint, and how much its will cost to fix. How long can i wait before getting it fixed?

You can check if it's the CV joint/boot by just looking under your car at the boot where it goes into the hub. If it's cracked/broken, and making the noises, then you need a new axle. However, CV joints that are bad make the tell tale popping and clunking under turning, and sometimes under acceleration, not over bumps. Jack the car up, check out the boots. Also check the boot where it goes into the tranny. Sounds like it could be something else.

it sound like you have the same problem i'm having right now.. this could be you wheel bearing... to check this it's easy just grab your wheel in a 3 o'clock 7 postition a shak.. if the wheel wobbles and makes nosie then you need a to tighten or replace you bearing..

This poping and clunking noise is getting annoying now and the crapy roads around my town make it 10x worse. Its the worst when coming to a complete stop and when there is suspension travel going over bumps or most any uneven surfaces unless im creeping. What should I check for to make sure I know exactly what the problem is?

Yeah, i got this sound too....its when i corner kinda slow and sharp to the right when i hear it, like from my front left side. Its really annoying to hear all the time, and makes the car sound like a piece of crap. frown.gif I think i could probably use new shocks too......but if it is the CV joint, then how much will it cost to replace the axle??

I does sound like a wheel bearing, just and fyi if the boots around your CV joints are bad they deffinatly should be replaced, but if the boots are good the insides could very easily be worn out. So like it was said above listen for the poping when you turn the wheel, it will be awful to drive through parking lots the noise is terrible.

Replacing the axle is not too much. Should be about $100 for parts and labor, at least mine's was. Maybe 120

info on CV joints here: R Axles.com from the descriptions, it sounds like it could be a cv joint or maybe a strut mounting plate...
