Other than what the Burien Turbo kit comes with, what all do I need. Like what exact intercooler do I need? Basically what exact part and how much is it?

intercooling is definately a must, when dealing with boost, the cooler the air after exiting the turbo into the intake, the more compressed the air will be, therefore, you will have more power at lower boost. you can buy aftermarket intercoolers from many different companies, but be prepared to pay for the name if you buy one from, lets say blitz. you can expect to pay upwards of $800 for an intercooler, to be more cost effective, look around for the intercooler off of a mk3 supra, these work fine and are a good fit for your bumper, well, depending on what year you have, with the 96+ model year celica, you hve to cut a small part of the bumper for this particular intercooler to fit.

and I wouldn't suggest a top mouint intercooler(it will never work and would suffer severe heat soak

After you pic out an intercooler that is to your liking, the next step is to mount it and run piping from the intercooler to the throttle/turbo. use about 2 1/2 piping I believe thats the diameter of your throttle.

you can either pay a mechanic to do this custom piping for you, or you can try and do it yourself, you will need a couple of u-bends, and an assortment of straight pipes, ruber connectors and hose clamps.

does the burien kit provide larger injectors? if not you can buy injectors off a mk3 supra that are direct replacements(green tops)

as the pressure that a turbo setup produces causes stress, you may want to beef up the internals of the engine, no sure what budget you have to work with, but you may want to start with a metal composite head gasket from a 98+ camry, from there, you may want to buy forged pistons and connecting rods.

oh and lets not forget about the exhaust, your stock exhaust will be quite restricting, I suggest going the custom way, with about 2.5 inch piping, you can go larger but it will be noisy and you might get annoyed.

a member on this board, by the name west minst is very informative on the subject, and has a thread on how to turbo charge your car from scratch which is chock full of valuable information.

since you appear to not have the burien kit yet, can I suggest you instead swap in a 3s-gte engine?
it is more reliable under high pressure and costs about as much as the burien kit.

oh I almost forgot to ask, does the burien kit come with a blow off valve, if not, i recommend the hks twin valve BOV, it nice because while at low boost it uses only one valve to release pressure, where as at high boost points, it uses booth.

I'm assuming the turbo it comes with has an internal wastegate? also to keep your turbo happy, buy a turbo timer, its inexpensive and pro-longs the life of your turbo, and if the kit dosent have a boost controller for the love of god buy a boost controller

good luck, and have fun boosting

yea "jayi12-15psi" is a cool and smart guy, he did gave you lot of info....

but I do have to note that you wanna stay away from 3SGTE just

because you are running on AUTOMATIC transmission!!!!

If you do want 3SGTE then u gotta switch over to Manual which

is going to cost you at leat $2,000..... well anywayz you can get

used intercooler from like DSMs or Supras, and the rest would be

custom piping which shouldn't run more then $500

oh, I didn't realize you had an auto. your best bet maybe to swap in a 3s-gte with a new tranny.
but this bout mean buying a clip, which would cost over 2,000 just to get it to your door (depending on where your from) and thats not including the work that goes into swaping the engine.

if you are now considering the swap instead of the burien turbo kit, you will still net to do like zigy sez and buy an inter cooler and pipe it ($500) for a front mount. (the 3s-gte has a top mount intercooler, that you can use, but I reccomend spending the cash on a front mount).

oh and thanks for the kind words zigy
