Just got my allighment done at PepBoys and the car still pulls to the left. I mean it was worse before because before it would pull to the left at any speeds. Now its fine up to 50-55mph but its pretty ****ty on high way. If I dont adjust it at 75mph I'll be in a ditch in a two seconds. So what do you think? Should I go back and get it redone?

i've had bad experience at pep boys - the customer sevice is good - but the job done was bad - i had my gf's car in for a brake pad job - and ended up having to bring it back needing a bleed on the brake line to be done - cause the brake pedal would go in all the way for any pressure -- of course the gf didn't know any better - another friend of mine had problems with pep boys too - at another location -

^ Find a real shop rather then a cheapo parts store. and get your money back from them, say they did not fix it and since they did not work on it then your not paying for it to have sat there on a lift and nothing done.

after an alignment if it does not drive straight they either did not fix it at all, or had someone who did not know what they were doing.

I disagree, if you had a bad wheel bearing after running a ladder over and didn't know if it was bad and went in for an alignment. Well, I'll tell you that its gonna move to the direction of the tire that hit that ladder.
After fixing my bearing, the steering wheel was straight again and it wasn't crooked like when I had that bad bearing and I still haven't gotten an alignment yet cause Im still waiting to put in my dust deflector. tongue.gif
Im pretty sure they stand behind what they service, cuz they know they can get sued for it.

In the cases of the brake pads, im pretty sure that the pads were so worn out that the caliper got used to squeezing in so much fuids to slow down the car, so at the end it needed a bleed to get rid of that extra air that was stuck in there. BUT!! If anybody unscrew my brake lines while changing out my brake pads, I sue the crap out of them cause you don't have to do that while changing your brake pads, unless you haven't changed them since Ages.

soulshadow -

- i agree some what - the pads were half full - it wasn't completely gone -it was a 2 year old civic at the time - first pad replacement ever done - just the gf complained about squeaking noise - so i had her take it in for performance pads with less squeaking - my personal experience when i took my car in for an alignment was shocking - the celica was lowered so they drove it onto the lifter with no problem, but when they tried driving off - it got stuck to a middle piece - only reason why i noticed was - sitting in the waiting room i heard 2 lound bangs - when i looke up - i saw that it was coming from my car - apparently the carriage was getting stuck to the middle piece of the lifter due to the car being lowered - instead of getting a jack to lift it up part way - they kept on raming it two more time - on the second bang - i looked out as they now noticed that i was paying attention to what they were doing to my car -- then they stopped and looked concerned as if i was gonna sue them - one of the tech guys took a block of wood to help the lift support and my car finally came out -- i personally went down to look at it afterwards and only noticed some scratched to the carriage frame - so i just thought this will be the last time i have them service my car -

well when you get an alignment done... if everthing in the suspension is in proper working order then you should have no probmes.. but if anything even a bushing is damgaed .. you will still pull to one side or another and you will notice it more... did you check your tire pressuer also ?

they should have checked all your suspension to make sure they could do a proper job ... if your not happy with the work take it back and when they start working on your car go into the shop and look at everything they do ... thats what i do everytime i take my car anyplace to do and alignment gets some guys nervuse when i call them on something they are doing wrong or miss .. but always get the job done right ..

well there ya go....any decent mechanic would have known...if it makes loud bang 1 time DON"T DO IT AGAIN..they probably screwed sumthing up being idiots...

I wouldn't take anything to pepboys, mainly because I had horrible service from them. I brought my mom's old Subaru in for a thermostat change, which they actually fixed the first time, but then the genius decided to drive it without washing his hands and got oil and grease on EVERYTHING (Steering wheel, seat, shifter, stereo ect). He pulled up and handed it over and started walking away and I told him to clean it off. First he said that he would pull it back in, and I said no clean it here now. Then he said it was there when he got in. After another round of bullsh*t I went in and got cleaner and a towel and cleaned off what I could. The oil and grease stuck to the Tan Leather interior and never came out. Ever. Assholes.

I'm betting the dumbasses did what one of the shop I used to work at did. They would claim a 4 wheel alignment but they never touched the rear adjusters. They would basis it on the idea that the rear end was always correct. With that the machine's reference is screwed if the rear is out at all.

Holy crap! The exact same thing happened to me! At Pepboys! Car went in to get springs put on (went in a straight line), came out pulling to one side. I took mine back three times to get my alignment done. First it pulled big time to the left then big time to the right, now slightly to the right. First time with stock wheels second with after market, then they said it maybe a problem with my rims/tires (BUL#$#IT!!!), so then I brought it back with my stocks on. They are absolute idiots!!!! I mean, they thought I was a freaking domer! When they said it was a prob with my wheels/tires (the last time I brought it in mad.gif ) I mean I was just insulted. GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!

1) If each time I took it, gave me inconsistant results (left, right, left), then you know they are doing it wrong. The nerve of people. I wish some businesses would just own up to their mistakes. DUDE I just wanted my car to go in a straght line... they obviously need help in that department... what a JOKE.

2) Dont tell me its my tires/rims when I have brought it back with two different sets. My car went in a straight line when I took it to them, dont tell me it can not be done because my rims and tires!!!!!
mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

3) GET THEM TO DO THE JOB YOU PAYED FOR!!! IF THEY ARE INCAPCABLE OF DOING SO, THEN THEY SHOULD NOT GET PAYED FOR THE SERVICE. EVEN IF IT TAKES THEM 200 TIME TO GET IT RIGHT, TELL THEM TO DO IT, UNTIL THEY GET IT RIGHT (WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE THAT)...well sort of did.
