My problem is I just want to be like heres $5000, get it done. Come back 2 weeks later and pick up my celica. Obviously things dont work like that, I dont know jack sh*t when it comes to engines, I always used 2 let my friend work on my old 300zx but now he moved away. I love my car but its 2 damn slow :-( any suggestions on how to get the 3s swap done? Im tempted to ship my car to where 1 of these other guys have had there swap done and just let them do it for me.

I can do it for you for $5000
There is one guy in Miami I know who works on Toyota engines, he's pretty good, but I don't know how much experience he has with the Celica. And it won't be for $5000. -Doc This post has been edited by Dr_Tweak: Jan 15, 2006 - 1:26 AM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

I'm sure there's someone in Florida that can do a 2nd gen swap for $5000. I simpithise with the slow Celica factor. These things suck for power.

I just dont even know where to start, I dont even know any trustworthy mechanics. I've already been reading the engine section of the forums for well over a year now but I dont think anything i've learned from there would really help me in getting the swap done simply because I am not the one who will be doing it.

Art said it best.
Reading the engine sectino of forums isnt going to get you THAT far. You really need to read the published websites by people who have done alot. I personally researched for over a year after I made the decision to do the swap. Countless hours of just sitting and doing searches and talking to people really pays off. And then I spent months finding the right engine. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Jan 15, 2006 - 11:19 AM -------------------- |

Yeah, doing it yourself is really the best way to go. I didn't and I paid the price bigtime...my car was down for over half of an incredibly stressful year.
But since then I haven't taken my car to a shop for anything and I've learned a ton. And I'd definitely do my swap myself if I could do it over. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

www.xatracing.com does do an auto to manual swap - for an extra $600 thats including parts and labor -
i would love to do the swap myself too - but i rent and my lease does not allow me to do that kind of work although i have my own drive way big enough for 4 cars - unless i rent out a shop or borrow someones garage - but that would be too much hassle and inconvenient - i may be planning on xatracing to do mine also - if i cannot find a location to do it myself when the time comes |

that ****s ****in awsome, $7100 for a 3rd gen swap with stick shift, I think its worth it. During the summer they are definatly getting my bussiness. And I would love to learn how to do the swap, but I dont have the time, or the help (my friends are very limited) or the resources. But hey if you bastards want i'll pay for your airfare here and back if you want to help me with it.

i'm sure we all can do it on our own as long as we have the tools including a good digital camera to take pictures of every signficant thing so we'll be able to put it back together n a bunch of ziploc bags

2nd that - as i have no time or location to do it - if i have location - i'll definitely find the time - but that means rental car for me since this is my only car - at the end i think it'll all end up costing the same as if i paid some one to do it - so i agree bloodrain - $7100 for some one to do it within 2 wks - or $7100 for me to do it for over 2 wks -

my offer still stands, if you guys want to fly your a$$'s down here and help, i'll pay for your plane ticket :-p Because I dont have an engine lift or jacks high enough to lift the car to get the engine out, nor do I have the space at my house to do it. So either way, paying them is best option for me. I know I would love to do it on my own or with friends, but its just out of the question.
