I've been going to school to become a teacher. This is something I have wanted to be my entire life. It's just.. lately I've been looking into becoming an Esthetician. For you men.. that is a skin care specialist. One who gives facials, waxes eyebrows, etc.. applies make up, etc. But the thing is, I've already spent a lot of money on school already to become a teacher. And becoming an Esthetician is only a certificate program.. I wouldn't need these "core" courses I am taking now.

I really don't know what to do. Should I continue going to school to become a teacher.. and maybe.. after my career is established.. do the whole skin care thing part time? I don't know. I just don't want to waste money. But, the Esthetician job pays 3 times as much.

Blah, what do ya'll think?

Lol, I can pronounce it.

Teaching is more rewarding.. because you're teaching. But being a skin care specialist is more.. financially rewarding. Haha.

I've got a friend who's husband was/is trying to be a skin doctor. I can't remember the terms for the things I'm trying to say, it's to dang late. But he's having a very hard time with it. He graduated in the top of his class in med school, but now he can't do anything. Can't get a place to let him work.

Here are a few little tips to remember.

The vast majority of americans will change their careers three times in their life. (I can't remember the number right now, it was like 90% though)

Life is short, when you're on your deathbed, the last thing you'll be thinking is "I wish I had worked more at this job I didn't like..."

So, do what is going to make you the most happy, and don't stress about what you're going to do because chances are, you're going to be doing something else in a few years anyway.

The job that would make me the happiest is to be a machanic, but I'll make more money as a doctor. So, I'm going to be a doctor.

Money isn't everything. Actually... money is nothing, as long as you have a roof over your head, food to eat, clothes to wear... But most people don't realize that until they're almost dead.

Money isn't everything. That said... money isn't much of anything. Seriously.

Tis true. I love what I'm doing now.. teaching part time. And I don't get barely any money for it.

I know money isn't everything, I don't care about money. But my gf does. She's going to be a Doctor too. She's going to be a Pathologist, and the average salery for them is 190k a year. I've got to at least try to make something close to what she's making. And can you image the car I could by with that kind if income? Ahhh, I drool thinking about all the money I can waste. I'll be sure to look you up Dr Tweak. I'm going to need someone to help me.

my skin's itchy...

but seriously, I think it really depends on what you would like to do, money aside. Though if you like being an aesthetician, then hmmm... wink.gif

Probably go the way of the skin aesthetician. You'll probably feel more appreciated than a teacher... but then again, I guess it's also the inner rewards, not just the external rewards...

(damn you Americans - always take the shortcut of spelling tongue.gif)

sounds like you want to take the easy way out and just go to beauty school ...

id stick with the teacher if i were you. i think it will end up being a more rewarding job in the end.

My sister just started out being an Esthetician...she just got done with that certificate program not too long ago and got a job. Seems like it could be a sweet job and you could meet lots of cool people and make alot of money. Just do whatever you want to do...if you dont feel like going to school anymore for Education then try something else. What you did get done really didnt go to waste anyways... you could always go back if you wanted also and have most of those classes completed to back you up.
