G'day haha, while i was in bed at 1 am i just realise i didn't know the difference between coupe or hatch, i jump on the net, fortunately celicaZR was on so i asked him, he explain coupe look more like a sedan...
i came on the 6gc to see the difference and i still get confuse, why? because most people on 6gc reckon they got coupe celica's when they got hatch. when i compare the 2, they both look the same. Heaps of people get confuse aswell laugh.gif .Please please can people double check if they have coupe or hatch and change it correctly. So people like me can atleast get some sleep
thanks, biggrin.gif

I was wondering why you couldnt tell the difference or why you were
confused?
But yea some members on here doesnt seem to know whether their car
is a coupe or a hatchback.
I saw some GT-4 listed as coupe confused.gif
I dont know if it is named differently in other countries.

Hey guys, as far as im concerned you have a hatch or saloon, but as it's a two door you could call it a coupe..........

i think toyota call the hatch a fast back still anyway !!!!

Coupe has more ridged body and has better handling. Mine is a coupe, you will see the hatch the glass lifts up when you open the trunk in a coupe only the trunk does, ours is El sexy...
ps I have a coupe if you dint guess

Honestly, if one cannot tell the difference then they don't belong here. A coupe has a trunk, a hatch has a lift-back. Coupes have Curren-style tail lights, whereas the hatch has GT-4 style tail lights. From the front they look the same, but if you look at them at any other angle it is pretty clear what it is. Maybe some people are just too lazy to go and change their info.

a hatchback is the best look for the celica. all the coupes that i have seen just look odd to me.

With the coupes there is a more flat look towards the back area while the hatch kinda slants all the way to the back. One big way to tell is the taillights.

different countries call it different things... its just whatever you are acustom to... i know quite a few people call them "latchbacks" and a "hatchback" is in fact a car like the 05 civic SI or a SVT Focus or a peugot 206.... its all in what you are used to.

The original celicas were liftbacks

The 1st through 7th gen are liftback because it is a marketing ploy by Toyota. Liftback is unique to the celica other cars are hatchbacks or fastbacks. Celica and maybe the very early supra celica are the only liftbacks.

No the main confusion is in the members ride, some people list their car as
coupe when it is a hatchback and vice versa.
So it would be nice if they went back and changed it smile.gif

there is no such thing as a hatchback celica !!!!!!!!!

only coupe, liftback and convertable !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hatchback is the description for a car with a vertical rear door (like a golf)

there for the choice of hatch back needs to be struck from the choices .......

hes accually right. the celicas were called lift backs not hatch backs. a family member owened the car be for me and i have all the origional paper work and its called a liftback. IMO i think the liftback looks at lot better then the coupe. the coupe doesnt look as sporty. the liftback kind of gives it that supra look from the back.

It's really amazing to me how this thread got turned from:
"Whats the difference between them, and can you fix your profiles"
to:

Mine is better than yours!!

Not that everyone did that, but definitely a select few did. Obviously we all like different variations better, and that's why they actually did make different types.

The coupe is sportier because it's like 100 pounds lighter. The liftback is more practical in my opinion, because the coupe's trunk is tiny and hard to get stuff in.

I'm not arguing on whether the hatchback should be called a liftback or a liftback should be called a hatchback.
There is no option to choose liftback in your celica profile. So hatchback will have to do.
All Naked is asking for people to change their body style to the appropriate one.

its just more practical, and seeing we're celica lover it should be done the right way. thumbsup.gif
